Hamelin University was a prestigious but financially troubled New York university, headed by Dean White. Thanks a combination of growth hormone experiments conducted by Dr. Neil Hamilton and the actions of a group of animal rights activists led by Mark Hales, the campus was overrun by giant rats which killed several students and faculty members before being stopped by the police.
