The Bogeyman is a video game character who features in The Secret World.

Biography

Nathaniel Winter was a male human who was born in the modern age on Earth. He was noted to had grown up to be fearful and neurotic where he felt helpless in the face of his many anxieties as well as insecurities. One day, he vowed to never be afraid again with him looking for a power to make him immune to doubt or fear. This became the driving force as he grew up where he created a corporate empire that spanned most of America with Winters amassing a fortune that valued at several hundred million dollars. Though his wealth gave him power, he was never satisfied as it did not make him feel secure and no matter how rich he grew or how powerful he grew through his political allies he was never truly free from his fears. The obsession with power led to his exposure to magic in the 1960s and his encounter with the Illuminati. This discovery led to Winters believing that magic was the path to security and power that he had sought for so many years. Thus, the overjoyed Winters attempted to make contact with the Illuminati and he petitioned for membership into their ranks. He reasoned that his great fortune would allow him access to them and thus learn the secrets o magic. The Illuminati, however, politely denied his membership request and were content to keep a healthy partnership with the aging property mogul. Ultimately, they felt that Winters lacked the influence that they wanted from their political members and his lack of innate magical ability meant he could not even join as a junior mage. This was the first time that Winters was unable to buy into power and in frustration he looked for other means of acquiring magic. However, ultimately, he came to learn that he lacked innate magical gifts and thus the only way to learn magic was through years of dedicating learning and studies. By this point, Winters ambition had grown as not only did he want to learn magic but he desired to become the greatest magus in the world.
