Esteban Corazón de Ablo

In 1875, his castle in the Transylvanian Alps was visited by the wounded Lillian von Loont who had survived a car crash that killed her husband. She collapsed as she sought help at the castle with Esteban Diablo in his normal guise rescuing her. He treated her at his home over the course of time till she was well enough whereupon he began to show her his home as he sought to reassure her. Diablo had become captivated by Lillian and revealed his true nature to her along with his alchemical arts. This led to the pair becoming lovers and he taught her the ancient arts of alchemy over the course of a year. (Alpha Flight v1 #21)

In Manhattan, he dispatched a homunculus shaped as him to find the Tablet of T'hehly'eh that was buried from a time when ancient man worshipped unspeakable N'garai gods. With it, he intended to use to shatter the barrier 'twixt worlds to free Diablo which was within his possession but he was opposed by Silverclaw. (Avengers v3 #40)

He was approached the Dragon Man and Franklin Richards from the Future Foundation where Esteban was surprised to see the state of his creation. The Dragon Man had become an ally of the Fantastic Four and believed all sentient beings were capable of becoming something more with such a potential existing in Diablo. The two provided an invitation from Doctor Doom to a gathering of minds that were to set about the task of defeating several members of the Interdimensional Council of Reeds that were operating on the planet.
