Biography
Karn was a member of the Inheritors, a clan of totemic hunters who fed on the life force of Totems, beings that connect the animal and Human kingdoms, originally from Earth-000. He was presumed to be the best amongst his siblings and favored by his parents but during a hunt against the Master Weaver, before he could strike the finishing blow, the Master Weaver revealed that unlike his family, he did not enjoy the hunts rather wish he could create. This hesitation caused the death of his mother at the hands of the Master Weaver. Solus, the family patriarch arrived and subdued the Master Weaver. He was then condemned to wear a diving mask to forever hide his shame and was exiled to hunt Spider Totems across the Multiverse until he could earn his place once more.
Karn would continue hunting Spiders across the universe in which a time displaced Superior Spider-Man would discover his trail by tracking the energy of his staff. While during a fight with a Cyborg Spider-Man of Earth-2818, he would be ambushed by Superior Spider-Man's team. Despite being outnumbered and weakened, he still fought with an upper hand. He was suddenly joined by his estranged brother and sister Brix and Bora and during their bickering caused the heroes to escape. While during the hunt to slay Ai Apaec of Earth-1771, he would lament his past mistake while hunting the Master Weaver and hopes that every portal that opens would lead him back to his family.
He later was responsible for slaying the Spider-Wolf of Earth-13989 and calls out to his father to boast his victory and asked if he can finally return to which Solus would respond by telling the Master Weaver to send him to a more challenging opponent.
Through the Web of Life and Destiny, he came to see that the Spider-Totems that were sent to confront his family failed in their task with Jennix creating cloned bodies for their kin. Thus, the Spiders looked to gather an army to help defeat the Inheritors before they could gather their strength and Karn opened portals to help them travel to their destinations. Whilst alone, he was ambushed by his sister Verna with the two battling and at first it seemed Karn had the advantage but his status as the keeper of the Web of Life and Destiny meant he was vulnerable to feeding as he was now a Spider-Totem. As such, Verna fed off him and left her brother seemingly dead as she joined the rest of her family in bringing about the resurrection of their father Solus. (Spider-Geddon v1 #2) In the aftermath of the crisis, the Inheritors were defeated and the various Spider Totems had a funeral on Loomworld for their fallen comrades including Karn.
