Biography
Tendril was a gigantic monstrous member of the Inhumanoids who was known as the ravager of the Earth's mantle that stood alongside D'Compose in the service of Metlar. Long ago, a terrible war erupted between the Inhumanoids and the Mutores with Tendril working to wipe out their foes. The Inhumanoids inflicted heavy losses on the Mutores but were defeated and driven into submission. During the Inhumanoids defeat, Mutores were responsible for chaining Tendril where they would force him into a stone chamber that served as his prison with large metallic manacles keeping him contained for countless years. This would be the case until the modern day when Blackthorne Shore learnt of the existence of the Inhumanoids and sought to control them. He would order a drilling shaft operation to take place above the prison and have the drill go down a further two miles. This would breach the chamber and free Tendril who managed to escape captivity as well as destroying the drill whereupon he sought out D'Compose. Tendril's freedom would confirm all the ancient documents that Blackthorne Shore had consulted. Afterwards, Tendril made his way into New York after he discovered the location of D'Compose who was trapped in amber by the Redwoods though his prison was discovered by Earth Corps. During the unveiling of the giant amber, D'Compose managed to partially break the amber and called out to Tendril who had arrived on the Golden Gate Bridge causing immense destruction. Earth Corps attempted to confront the monster where they managed to acquire a piece of the monster but failed to defeat him as Tendril entered the museum and freed D'Compose. They attempted to attack Earth Corps but the humans fled and the military launched rockets that struck a gas main causing a large explosion. In the commotion, the two Inhumanoids managed to escape into the water as they proceeded to move to free Metlar. Earth Corps members Herc and Auger followed them only to be ambushed by the two Inhumanoids with Tendril grabbing onto their mini-sub. He attempted to crush the craft like a tin-can until the humans detonated the ship thus freeing them and wounding Tendril. After the skirmish, Herc and Auger managed to escape to the surface and evaded D'Compose by going to the surface. The two Inhumanoids later began travelling underground with Earth Corps in pursuit when the Tendril monster emerged from the shadows to ambush the team. Despite their assault, they were unable to harm Tendril but Liquidator froze the ground causing the Inhumanoid to slip on the surface where he struggled to set himself right up again. This led to D'Compose arriving and chasing Earth Corps who looked to flee back to the surface where they were only saved by the Redwoods. With their pursuers gone, the two Inhumanoids continued on their mission to free Metlar with Tendril destroying the defensive outposts of the Granites that stood in his way. He and D'Compose then finally reached the fortress prison holding their leader where they engaged the Granites who fought to defend their charge. Earth Corps arrived on the scene with new vehicles to aid them against the Inhumanoids where their weapon fire shot off Tendril's arm which regrew with the two severed pieces becoming two more copies of him. This allowed them to break through the walls of the fortress and Tendril climbed the tower where he surrounded Magnakor. The Mutore reluctantly let loose his magnetic field over Metlar thus freeing the Inhumanoid leader who commanded Tendril to take Magnakor as his prisoner to be chained in his lair. He returned as his master dealt with Earth Corps only to see Metlar captured by Blackthorne Shore who used his power suits magnetic control abilities against the Inhumanoids leader. During a distraction, Metlar commanded Tendril to break the magnetic field thus freeing the Inhumanoid from the humans control. They then attempted to capture the humans with Tendril targeting Blackthorne. Shore desperately asked for the help of Earth Corps who reluctantly helped and Auger used a rocket to bury Tendril under debris.
Overview
Personality and attributes
In appearance, Tendril was a giant monstrous being with green plant-like skin with four limbs; two arms, two legs and had a tail. His arms had three fingers that were as a tendril which could grab onto objects or used to bludgeon obstacles.
It was said that Tendril was not an intelligent creature.
Powers and abilities
Based off the tremors produced by his movements, it was calculated that Tendril weighed over 70 tons. A scan indicated that the monster was cold blooded and quite possibly cryogenic.
Even the smallest tissue sample removed from the creature would continue to operate and grow at an incredible rate. Wounds that separate a piece of Tendril from himself would heal and the severed portions of his body would grow into another Tendril monster. Thus, shooting off parts of him effectively made Tendril multiply and allowed him to overwhelm his foes with numbers.
Notes
- Tendril was created by Flint Dille for Hasbro's Inhumanoids cartoon line where the character himself was voiced by actor Chris Latta.
