- Real World: February 21. Malcolm X is assassinated.
- DC (Generations): March 12. The Robotman of the Central Timeline, unstuck in time, replaces his counterpart from this reality after trying to change his history. The Rita Farr of the Central Timeline follows (although she remains separate from her counterpart). With the help of Batman and allies, Robotman and Farr are restored to their proper history. (Doom Patrol (4th Series) #14)
- Real World: March 18. Aleksei Leonov, a Russian cosmonaut, becomes the first person to walk in space.
- Real World: April 11. In six Midwestern states in the U.S., 47 (or 51) tornadoes hit, killing over 250 people and injuring some 1500 more.
- Real World: July 14. Mariner 4, an American spacecraft, passes by Mars and returns the first images of the planet.
- Real World: July 30. U.S. President Lyndon Johnson signs the Social Security Act of 1965 (creating Medicare and Medicaid) into law.
