• Lord of the Rings: c. 4304 BC (III 2758). Rohan and Gondor both come under attack. Helm of Rohan retreats to the fortress that becomes known as Helm's Deep. In Rohan, Edoras is seized by the usurper Wulf. (The Return of the King)

• Lord of the Rings: c. 4304 BC (III 2758). The Long Winter begins, inflicting great misery upon Eriador and Rohan. Gandalf lends aid to the Shire. (The Return of the King)

• Lord of the Rings: c. 4303 BC (III 2759). The Long Winter ends. Helm of Rohan is slain. Wulf is driven from Edoras by Helm's nephew Frealaf, who becomes the new King of Rohan. Saruman settles in Isengard. (The Return of the King)
