Biography

Al-Owal (Arabic: The First) was a male human being who at some point got inducted into the ranks of the League of Assassins. This organization operated in the world in secret where it was considered a myth by many outsiders. By the modern age, they operated from the hidden city of Nanda Parbat with Al-Owal situated in this sanctuary. The League was approached by Malcolm Merlyn who was grieving the loss of his wife who was murdered back in America. Upon reaching Nanda Parbat, he became inducted into the ranks of the League where Al-Owal trained him in their ways. This training regime lasted for two years where Malcolm claimed he found enlightenment from his study. Afterwards, Merlyn would return to his home of Starling City to conduct his schemes only to be killed by the Vigilante. At this same time, Sara Lance who was a League member abandoned her duty to the organization and left. This saw Ra's al Ghul demanding her return as none left the ranks of the League of Assassins but she killed the warrior sent to retrieve her. As a result, Al-Owal and two fellow assassins arrived at Starling City to find and kill her. Al-Owal himself arrived at the Queen mansion where he attacked Oliver Queen and Sara Lance but was defeated. Instead of being captured, he managed to escape from the pair where he continued his plan in killing Sara Lance.
