History

Aogiri Tree (アオギリの樹, Aogiri no Ki, lit. Chinese Parasol Tree) was an organization in Japan that consisted of individuals that were Ghouls. It was founded in the modern age by Eto Yoshimura with its roots coming from the 24th Ward with it founded after she along with her small band of ghouls were nearly defeated by the Commission of Counter Ghoul around 13 years ago. Many were unaware of its founding and instead it was claimed that a figure named the One-Eyed King had created the organization where he attracted countless Ghouls from all the different wards who were rallied them under the banner of Ghoul supremacy under the belief that their kind was the superior race. The One-Eyed King did not directly manage the affairs of the Aogiri Tree with operations instead being handled by their direct subordinates.

Thus, they came to attract publication attention where during the present-day one of their executives by the name of Yakumo Oomori went on a man-hunt for an infamous binge-eater Ghoul named Rize Kamishiro.

Afterwards, the C.C.G. launched the Owl Suppression Operation into the 20th ward where they targeted the coffee shop Anteiku where it was believed the One-Eyed Owl resided in secret. An operation was conducted to eliminate their target and they came to overwhelm the force of ghouls gathered to face them. However, the real One-Eyed Owl emerged in the fight with the Aogiri Tree swarming onto the scene where they began killing the C.C.G. personnel. After the fall of Anteiku, they expanded their operations and began to conscript more ghouls that operated in human society into their ranks.

During the Rushima Landing Operation, Aogiri Tree came to suffer from the loss of 98% of its membership. This led to the C.C.G. declaring the organisation to had been exterminated though in reality this was the intention of the group to be decimated. Its surviving 2% managed to evacuate where the members joined the Goat organisation that was headed by Eto's designated sucessor Ken Kaneki who became the new One-Eyed King.

Overview

In appearance, the group consisted of Ghouls that were dedicated in creating a better world for their kind in which they could live openly as well as freely. They did not hesitate in slaughtering anyone that got in their way with this mostly consisting of humans though Ghouls were not an exception.

In time, they came to hold several thousand Ghouls within their organization. This led to them being considered among the most powerful Ghoul organisation that operated in the country. The majority of its members were low-ranked Ghouls that were B-rated or below whilst the higher ups were S-rated or higher. When taking over a territory, it was shown that they actively sought out new members in a region they controlled with the weaker ones conscripted for menial tasks.

It was said that the group was headed by a mysterious figure known as the One-Eyed King with this actually being a title that was passed from one person to the next.

Whilst the C.C.G. were their enemies, they claimed that their true aim was defeating the warped root behind the persecution of Ghouls.

One of their bases of operation was Rushima that was an uninhabited island in the Tokyo Bay area that had been a former military base during World War II.
