History
The Berserkers were a gang of pirates that operated on Third Earth and were led by the fearsome ThunderCats.
Hammerhand and his vile viking-like crew first cross paths with the ThunderCats when they kidnap Snarf after he prevents them from capturing a Unicorn. Instead of eating Snarf, Hammerhand decides to use him as a beast of burden. While searching for a Unicorn to eat in the Unicorn Forest, Hammerhand and the Berserkers run into Lion-O who is searching for Snarf. Lion-O and Hammerhand battle it out but eventually the Berserkers retreat by using Snarf as a hostage and take a baby Unicorn with them as well. Eventually the ThunderCats are able to rescue Snarf and the baby Unicorn before Panthro creates an artificial whirlpool in which the Berserkers Ship is pulled under, drowning Hammerhand and his mates.
The original Berserkers were apparently all killed when their ship was sunk but Hammerhand was later mystically resurrected by Mumm-Ra. He summoned up the pirate's spirit to animate a clone of Panthro which he had created. When the plan failed, Hammerhand's spirit broke Mumm-Ra's control and the clone body shifted into Hammerhand's original form before departing.
Afterwards, Hammerhand came to reform the Berserkers with three members endowed with cybernetic bodies and powers similar to his own.
Mumm-Ra enlisted them into capturing Lynx-O, Bengali, Pumyra, and the two Berbils that rescued them.
Overview
In appearance, the Berzerkers were a crew of cyborg pirates that were under the leadership of Hammerhand. They enjoyed nothing more than to terrorize the gentle beings of the world.
They were known to be open to being hired as mercenaries.
Typically, the Berserkers operated on Third Earth's oceans where they sailed the seas onboard their ship. The Berserkers' Ship was a massive Viking-like vessel that is the Berserkers' main mode of transport. The villainous pirates sail the oceans and seas of Third Earth in this ship and spread their terror. Just like ancient Viking ships, the ship's slender and tapering hull is made of wood. It has a single massive sail that it uses to sail but is also fitted with powerful jet engines that can allow it to travel at very fast speeds. The ship also has a couple of jet powered lifeboats. The ship was heavily armed and apart from side cannons, it has a powerful laser firing cannon fitted in the head at the very front of the ship.
