Bill Torrance

Squadron Leader Bill Torrance was an RAF pilot of Australian birth, and one of numerous pilots in World War II selected to make an attack run against the German gun fortress on Navarone. After failing and losing several of his men, Torrance and what remained of his squadron returned to base, where they explained to Captain James Jensen, Captain Keith Mallory and Lieutenant Andrew Stevens why an aerial attack of Navarone was impossible.
