History
Blue Cosmos (Japanese: ブルーコスモス, Hepburn: Burū kosumosu) was originally an environmental pressure group, but after George Glenn revealed his identity as a Coordinators in C.E. 15 they came to change their emphasis to terrorizing and killing Coordinators. They especially desired the destruction of the Ultimate Coordinator, Kira Yamato, and carried out an attack on the Mendel Colony in C.E. 55. Over the year, the ideology of Blue Cosmos spread, particularly in the Atlantic Federation, with many of its senior military members or political figures, such as William Sutherland and Muruta Azrael. During the First Alliance-PLANT War, Blue Cosmos actively attempted to destroy the PLANT Colonies, the Coordinator homeland, beginning with the destruction of Junius Seven. As the war continued, Muruta, the leader of Blue Cosmos, became the de facto leader of the Earth Alliance and ordered a nuclear attack on the PLANT Colonies, leading to the Second Battle of Jachin Due. The attack ultimately failed and Azrael was killed during the closing stages of the war.
Overview
In appearance, Blue Cosmos was a hate group formed by resentful Naturals and is the dominant political force behind the Earth Alliance military. According to the Blue Cosmos ideology, genetic modification is a violation of the natural order, and all Coordinators must be exterminated 'for the preservation of our blue and pure world'.

- Muruta Azrael : a blonde haired male human who as a child was bullied by Coordinators and was slapped by his mother when he asked why he was not similarly genetically engineered where she had no desire for her son to become one of those 'monsters'. This led to his deep resentment and hatred of Coordinators whereby adulthood he became a senior member of the National Defense Industry Association/National Industrial Alliance. Eventually, he became a leading figure in Blue Cosmos and spearheaded their efforts in the Earth Alliance to resume hostilities against the PLANTS as well as exterminate the Coordinators.
