Captain Moss
Captain Moss was an officer in the Efrafan Owsla. When Captain Campion was presumed to have died in the caverns leading to Watership Down, Moss, a corporal, was promoted to Captain of Owsla to take his place. Like Campion, Moss began to see that General Woundwort was destroying Efrafa, and so he plotted with a doe named Heather to overthrow him. They didn't need to, as Hazel and the Watershippers attacked that very night and Woundwort was deposed.
After the fall of Efrafa, Moss and the surviving Efrafans lived at Watership Down for a time, but heated tempers between them and the Watershippers began to make things difficult. Heather, who Moss was falling in love with, suggested they go and start a new warren. Moss took her advice and, along with her and most of the other Efrafans, led them to start a new life elsewhere. He and Heather soon became mates, and Moss - somewhat tentatively - accepted the Efrafans' unanimous demand that he be their new Chief Rabbit.
