An imprint of DC Comics, Tangent took the names of existing DC characters, while totally re-inventing the concepts behind those names. The resulting heroes and villains were placed in a new universe, altered by the presence of these superhumans (including an extended Cold War).

The Tangent universe was revealed as part of hypertime in The Kingdom #2. It also manifested as Earth-97 during the recreation of the multiverse in Infinite Crisis, and the lantern of Tangent's Green Lantern remained on the recombined New Earth.
