Children of YMIR

The Children of YMIR are a race of machines that inhabit the world of Too Human.

History

The machines of YMIR were created at some unspecified point in Earth's history and waged a constant brutal war against Humanity. As part of that struggle, nuclear and anti-matter weapons were employed against the Children of YMIR which devastated the planet and plunged it into a cold ice age. While defeated, the machines were not destroyed and actually prospered in the cold where they plotted the extermination of Humanity and its two braches of gods namely the Aesir and the Vanir.

Background

The Children of YMIR were divided into various different model of machines though typically all were roughly humanoid in shape.

Types

Goblins

Goblin warriors gathering.

These robotic warmachines are known to crawl walls like spiders and drop down without suffering any form of damage. They are the most numerous form of machines with multiple variant models which include missile equipped units. Goblins are often encountered in large numbers where they use them to drown the enemy with the number of Goblin warriors present. However, against an Aesir, they are little more then a nuisance but can be quite distracting and damaging if allowed to gather. [1]

Dark Elves

An agile war machine which are primarily found in the Ice Forests. They are skilled in both ranged and melee form of combat but use the Goblin models as close support infantry.

One variant of these Children of YMIR possessed a spider shaped lower body. [2]

Trolls

These massive beasts are capable of wielding assault class weapons and are fairly powerful though they are weak minded. Typical strategy in defeating a Troll involves breaking down its armor and internal structure one piece at a time. Onboard Devastator class warships, the Trolls served a maintenance role and ensured that the ship worked properlly.

There were larger variants of the trolls that can be mistaken for Giants.[3]

GRNDL-1

The GRNDL series was a new development among the machines and may be solely unique. Appearing as large gorilla shaped robots, the GRNDL has the unique aspect in its making in that it seeks out and consumes Human life; devouring their bodies and flesh through the use of its bladed mouth. This became the first sign that the Children of YMIR were attempting to bridge the gap between organic and cybernetics. The creature was quite large and powerful as well as made use of numerous flying drones which were shot from its body and contained blades with which to rip apart Humans.

The creature was destroyed by the efforts of Baldur.
