Biography

The Coyote was the name taken by a smart yet greedy smuggler who engaged in human trafficking on Earth. Lady Bullseye at some point had tried to make the Spot a more threatening villain. However, her efforts failed and instead she apprehended him and re-built the machinery that originally gave him his powers. Strapping him into the machine, they then brought the smuggler who was then given the teleportation powers of the Spot. The process meant that Coyote was slowly draining Spot's power over time. (Daredevil v3 #21) Considering himself a contractor, Coyote began taking assignments for money, though rather than simply teleport things in for others, he preferred to use creative solutions. One of his first new clients was an aspiring Kurdish warlord where Coyote used his powers to reopen his supply chain. This saw them sneaking weapons over the border by using closed tunnels underground where he ran those over with a car that tried to flee the country through the tunnel. Another client was the New Juarez Cartel in Mexico who had been using pregnant women as drug mules with Coyote by placing teleportation holes on the stomachs of pregnant women, allowing them to carry massive stashes of drugs over the border. This expanded the narcotics syndicate's drug pipeline and they came to hire the Coyote to eliminate local rivals. Coyote was ordered by the cartel to eliminate some of their competition in New York City. In Coyote's most massive enterprise, he began strapping teleportation collars onto the bodies of human trafficking victims, keeping their heads seemingly severed while their bodies were put to work in diamond mines, in armies, doing sharecropping, and in prostitution. The collars kept Coyote's victims docile, and they were powered up by the machine that Spot remained strapped to. Coyote kept the severed heads in a closet and fed them daily. (Daredevil v3 #20) This went in line with Coyote's own assignment given to him by Lady Bullseye and her partner which was to target drug import and assassinate rival drug lords. In addition, he was given the task of torturing Daredevil during a time when had been outed as Matt Murdock. (Daredevil v3 #21)

Later on, Coyote transported the skull and boxing gloves off the corpse of Jack Murdock into Matt Murdock's desk, seeking to drive the hero mad. (Daredevil v3 #16) He then drained all of the blood from drug kingpin Victor Hierra's body from afar. Nurse Adele Santiago was arrested for the murder, and her brother, Mr. Santiago, later secured the legal help of Foggy Nelson to represent her in court, as she'd been appointed corrupt lawyer Robert Ranney. Coyote then teleported Milla Donovan from her hospital room directly into Matt Murdock's home, messing with Murdock even more. After Matt found Milla at home and later left, Coyote teleported Milla back to the hospital, causing Matt to later wonder if he was going mad. Then Coyote hit more men in Hierra's organization from afar, killing them all, including Jardiem Salazar and Benny. (Daredevil v3 #18) Coyote stole Daredevil's billy club, messing with the hero further. Later, he killed more drug dealers, including Anthony Tortino, and he captured Daredevil, using a collar to separate the hero's head from his body. (Daredevil v3 #19) While carrying Daredevil's severed head around, Coyote boasted about his recent criminal plans, while Daredevil's body stumbled about and found the Spot machine. Daredevil managed to shut it down and return all of the human trafficking victims to the base, then he placed his own collar on Coyote, who screamed in pain as his powers were blocked. (Daredevil v3 #20) As Spot freed himself, Coyote screamed for help from Daredevil, admitting the truth of his own origin. Daredevil forced Coyote to admit his crimes in front of his victims, then he drained Spot's powers by using all of the control collars. Both Spot and Coyote suddenly teleported away. Daredevil and the victims dug out of Coyote's underground base in Arizona. (Daredevil v3 #21)

Eventually, he came to be selected for a process that transferred some of the powers of the Spot to him. This allowed the Coyote to open black portals allowing him to travel from one location to another. It was noted that he was quite creative in the use of his teleportal powers. (Daredevil v3 #21)

With his power, he was able to separate a person's still living head from their body and keep it as part of his collection. (Daredevil v3 #19) To accomplish this, he had to attach an electronic collar to their neck before using his ability to separate it from their body.
