History
The Darkling Lords were a group of ruthless knights that formed after the Age of Magic came upon the world of Prysmos which stopped the use of all forms of technology. Capitalizing upon the devastation, the Darkling Lords were formed by Lord Darkstorm who formed his fortress at Castle Darkstorm with the intention of conquering the world.
At first, his soldiers consisted of Mordred and Reekon who did his tasks while he worked to conquer New Valarak but suffered repeated failures. He would receive a calling by Merklynn to enter into his chambers within the Iron Mountains in order to receive a great prize which he hoped would give him the power to defeat his enemies. On his quest, he conscripted numerous other evil Knights who formed the Darkling Lords who were given their magical powers.
Darkstorm gathered Reekon and Mortdredd at his castle before they journeyed to Iron Mountain to answer the wizard Merklynn's challenge. During the ascent, Darkstorm ordered Mortdredd to fake an injury to delay Leoric, while Reekon alerted a stone giant to the presence of the other knights. Later, Darkstorm encountered Cindarr, Cravex, and Lexor trapped in a pit of sticky spider's milk; he refused to assist them until they each swore an oath of eternal fealty to him. After they reached the shrine at the summit, Merklynn bestowed magical animal totems upon the group. Darkstorm received the mark of the mollusc, while Cindarr received the gorilla, Cravex the phylot, Lexor the armadillo, Reekon the lizard, and Mortdredd the beetle. Darkstorm, Cindarr, and Cravex also received power staves containing magical spirits. Upon exiting the shrine, the group engaged in a skirmish against the other knights, during which Ectar identified them as the Darkling Lords. Darkstorm then falsely pledged that the group would use their magic only for the common good to ensure the rival knights followed suit. At the conclusion of the events, Virulina revealed herself to have infiltrated the rival group after her staff transformed her back from a female villager into her true form. The newly formed Darkling Knights were all subservient to Lord Darkstorm and their base of operations were his castle. From there, they took upon numerous quests given by Merklynn as well as fought their enemies the Spectral Knights for the domination of the planet.
Reekon and Mortdredd scrounged for metal in the ruins of a city, where they discovered their unique ability to repower ancient technology with their magical energy. Darkstorm subsequently used this discovery to launch a coordinated campaign against the Spectral Knights. During separate ambushes, the Darkling Lords captured Arzon, Witterquick, and Cryotek, stripping them of their magical power staffs. Darkstorm then marched the group to the gates of New Valarak and used the Power of Decay to magically age a defiant villager, forcing the local population to swear fealty to him. The Darkling Lords occupied the city and imprisoned the remaining knights, but their control was short-lived when the prisoners escaped and reclaimed their stolen staves. After Leoric used the Staff of Wisdom to reveal a counter-strategy, the Darkling Lords were forced to retreat from the city and return to their dark domain. (Episode: The Dark Hand of Treachery)
