Biography
Darla was originally a human woman who lived on Earth by the 17th century. By 1609, she was a prostitute who was at Virginia Colony where she contracted syphilis that left her covered in sores. Eventually, the disease left her on her deathbed where she waited to die until one day she was visited by a figure that was seemingly a priest. He asked everyone to leave to hear the woman's last words where she said that she needed nothing from God and simply wanted to die. However, the 'priest' said that she would not die and instead be reborn where he revealed himself to be a Vampire called the Master. The dying woman thought he was death but he told her that he was a saviour who promised to help her unlike God who had refused her. He then bit her and transformed her into a vampire where he gave her the name of Darla. (Episode: Darla)
In 1760, she took Angelus with her to London in order to introduce him to her sire and to induct him into the Order of Aurelius. Darla came to brag about the destruction that she and her creation had caused through South Wales as well as the North of England. However, Angelus was unimpressed at the Order as he remarked that instead of being the elite simply resided in the sewers. The disrespect he showed to the Master led to Angelus receiving a beating for his words with Darla quickly apologising for him. However, Angelus tempted Darla by asking her if she rather remain in a rat-infested sewer or go with him to Naples where he would treaty her to a luxurious lifestyle and promised to give her anything she wanted or herself. At first, the Master expected Darla to remain loyal to him but she chose the 'stallion' over her sire. Despite his anger, he allowed Darla to leave with Angelus as he expected that she would return to him one day. (Episode: Darla)

Darla was turned into a vampire by the Master who was her sire and had provided her with a name. This meant that she was respectful to him and followed his commands. The only exception to this was when she had to choose between the Master and Angelus. Ultimately, she chose Angelus though her sire was confident that she would eventually return to his service. Originally, she was an ordinary human being until she contracted syphilis that nearly killed her. She was later returned into a vampire by the Master thus gaining all the traits of that undead demonic race. (Episode: Darla)
