Biography
Dennis Dunphy
In college, he had been a normal all-American redneck jock who played football and believed that he would have a career from the sport. After graduation, he thought he would be picked to be one of the majors and become a pro but this never happened. He tried out for other teams but no one wanted him and he came to the realisation that he was not good in the sport. Rather than quit though, he decided to work out at the gym constantly where he practiced and trained to make the grade. (Captain America v1 #328)
One day, he was approached by this person claiming to be the Power Broker who offered Dunphy power but at a price. (Captain America v1 #328)
He later claimed to had fallen under the command of the Grandmaster who called on him to claim the Infinity Gems from the Avengers with him contacting the heroes but they never returned his calls. This saw him being recruited into Wonder Man's team of Revengers that consisted largely of anti-heroes who wanted to forcibly disband the superhero team for being a menace to the world. As a result, he participated in the attack that devastated Avengers Mansion with them making their way to Avengers Tower. Once there, D-Man and his comrades were attacked by the combined Avengers, New Avengers and the Secret Avengers leading to their defeat. After his arrest, Dunphy revealed the reasons why he aided Wonder Man during the interrogation. (New Avengers Annual v2 #1)
