History
Devil Hunters (Japanese: デビルハンター, Hepburn: Debiru Hantā?) was an occupation consisting of specially trained individuals tasked with hunting and neutralising Devils.
Overview
In appearance, Devil Hunters were individuals trained to fight Devils on Earth.
They tended to use contracts with Devils as means of standing a chance in combat against their monstrous opponents, giving them a massive advantage over standard law enforcement when Devils should appear. In some cases, Devil Hunters did not eliminate a Devil but captured them instead for the purpose of using them to form contracts.
It was noted that devil hunters were the only ones alongside the police force to be legally allowed to use a gun in Japan. While hunting devils may allow one to earn considerably good amounts of money along with the governmental benefits for the ones who work at Public Safety, this is considered as one of the most dangerous professions in existence. Despite that, it still is a very popular profession and even schools have Devil Hunters Club for the students who seek to become one.
Devil Hunters that worked for the government received a salary regularly, just like any other government employee, whilst Private Sector Devil Hunters turn in bounties and do not have a permanent regular salary. Other devil hunters may choose to sell devil corpses in the black market as an alternate way to make more money. In Japan, Public Safety Devil Hunters (公こう安あんのデビルハンター Kōan no Debiru Hantā?) was an organization of government-sanctioned Devil Hunterswho functioned in a role similar to a Fire Department or Police Force. They were sent to dispatch Devils in the event of a threat to the public and were tasked with resolving devil-related incidents on a smaller scale.
