History
The EM-208 were a class of military robot that were created by Omnicorp for combat engagements both in the battlefield and urban environment. Despite their effectiveness, Senator Hubert Dreyfus campaigned against the use of these machines for law enforcement and created a bill known as the Dreyfus Act. This was a national law that forbade the use of robots in police and military engagements within the United States of America. Raymond Sellars attempted to bypass the legislation but failed as Dreyfus combated it by stating that being machines they were not able to be effective due to a lack of emotions. As a result, Omnicorp faced a loss in revenue for so long as their robots were not deployed in the field. During Operation Freedom Tehran, a number of EM-208's were deployed on the ground where they provided support alongside several ED-209. To circumvent the Dreyfus Act, Omnicorp decided to create a cyborg law enforcement officer with injured badly wounded Alex James Murphy being reconstructed with cybernetics. He was placed in a virtual test scenario to examine his capabilities against an EM-208 where it was determined that Murphy's emotion's actually lagged his reaction time when compared to the military robot. Raymond Sellars later journeyed to the China factory in order to witness a live engagement between Officer Murphy and a team of EM-208's led by Omnicorp tactician Rick Mattox.
Overview
Similar to the ED-209, these units offered a full range of media suite namely 360 infrasonic cameras, audio targeting and real-time backup. Vocal mediation cued over 1,500 languages with 500+ regional dialects remotely updatable. Their armor consisted of a tempered O-Shield that offered operational flexibility across multiple ecosystems and an auto-temperature regulation facility plus a self-healing functionality. A chemical structure of grapheme remotely mutated to optimize defensive strength. Microscopic solar O-cells were chemically bonded to the O-Shield armor that formed the lightest fuel system devised that drew power from solar energy and stored bio-galactic fuel for up to 48 hours of Battle-level 5 activity.
For weaponry, they were equipped with automatic carbon-infused pistols that offered 98.73% accuracy up to 800 meters and were synched to a 360 degree visor scan. These units were able to switch mid-blast to armor piercing rounds ranging 150 meters and had the option for a short range flame thrower.
During combat engagements, a handler was deployed from Omnicorp who was placed in charge of management and control over a group of EM-208's.
