History
The Galactic Civil War was a conflict that occurred a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. Its origins came as a result of the aftermath of the earlier Clone Wars. Following that war, the ruling Galactic Republic was reformed by Chancellor Palpatine who declared himself Emperor of the first Galactic Empire. This saw him consolidating power whilst bringing about the destruction of the Jedi Order who had served as the guardians and protectors of the Republic. Under the promise of peace and order, the Galactic Empire brought about a tyrannical rule over the galaxy. However, many figures opposed this new government and began establishing rebel groups that fought against the Empire.
