Genesis Device

The Genesis Device is a creation of civilian scientists within the United Federation of Planets and featured in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.

Overview

The genesis device was a unique creation that possessed an energy matrix that could be present within a torpedo and launched at a planetary environment. Once impacting the world, a powerful energy field erupted from the device which would encompass the entire planet. Where the energy wave spread, life would follow and a developing ecosystem would form complete with animals and plant life. It was hoped that such a device would become a key terraforming tool by remaking lifeless planets into living breathing world. However, where life already existed on such a planet then the energy field would destroy that life and replace it with whats present within its energy matrix.
