History

Genomorphs were genetically engineered organisms that were created in the modern age in secret by the staff at Project Cadmus.

Overview

A number of different breeds of Genomorphs were created that included:

  • G-Goblin : humanoid in form with these being the more intelligent of the breed who could speak, had telekinetic powers and secretly also had telepathy.
  • G-Gnomes : these were small specimens that could sit comfortably on a human shoulder who had powerful telepathic abilities and used to enforce control over others such as mind control or wiping memories or controlling the other Genomorph breeds.
  • G-Trolls : Genomorph Project 0427 created large behemoth creatures bred for their brute strength and designed for heavy manual labor.
  • G-Elves : Genomorph Project 0777 created small feral creatures with sharp claws and speed that were designed for a combat role as warriors.
  • G-Dwarves : Genomorph Project 0707 created with tentacles and designed to serve as worker drones.
  • G-Sprites : Genomorph Project 0424 created to be flying insectile with bio-luminescent properties and ability to generate electricity that were harnessed as living power sources stored in jars.

Members

  • Dubbilex : a male G-Goblin and seemingly the only one of this type who obeyed Miles Desmond but hid many of his own powers where he helped summon the three heroes to rescue Superboy and bring about the freedom for the Genomorphs.
  • Guardian : a male human clone of Jim Harper who considering his origins was considered a fellow Genomorph.
  • Superboy : male hybrid clone of Superman and Lex Luthor created by the Light as part of Project Kr who was initially created as a weapon before he was rescued and joined Young Justice.
  • Match : a second clone of Superman and more powerful twin of Superboy though unstable as he was created from pure Kryptonian DNA causing him to lash out uncontrollably.
  • Red Arrow : male clone of Roy Harper secretly created by the Light and used as a sleeper agent with his origins revealed he came to be considered a brother Genomorph.

Notes

  • Genomorphs were an original creation of the animated Young Justice universe and do not appear within the mainstream DC comics though were perhaps similar to the DNAliens.
  • The varying types of Genomorphs were seemingly named after mythological fairy tale creatures such as trolls, dwarves, sprites, goblins, elves and gnomes.
  • Though not appearing in the mainstream DC universe, one character within the Superboy comics was referred to as Gene-Gnome who was created by Cadmus and telepathic similar to the G-Gnomes in Young Justice.
