History
The Gibborim were said to be a mythical race of evil giants that supposedly predated the Old Testament who once ruled the world. It was said that they existed on Earth in a time when it was a peaceful utopia before the rise of man until their banishment. Since then, they had long sought a return to the world where they intended to create a new utopia once humanity had been exterminated. (Runaways v1 #13) It was noted that they had offspring who were referred to as the Seed of the Gibborim. (Runaways v5 #13) A young Elsa Bloodstone was noted to had slain Gibborim Marauders. (Monsters Unleashed v3 #6) The Gibborim lacked the lifeforce to accomplish this goal on their own and thus sought agents to operate on their behalf. According to the old ways, they needed six pair bonds to serve this purpose and in 1984 they abducted six couples who were offered power in exchange for their service. These were to form a Pride where they were guaranteed power to rule for a quarter of a century in exchange for regular sacrifices to the Gibborim with an innocent having their life given to the giants. Thus would be until they gained the necessary power to affect the change where they would purge the world of humanity though six of the Pride would be offered a place in the new Eden. This saw them gather the Thieves (the Wilders), the Travelers (the Yorkes), the Colonists (the Deans), the Wise Men (the Steins), the Outcasts (the Hayes) and the Magicians (the Minorus) who all agreed to the pact. (Runaways v1 #13)
The Seed of the Gibborim were in their chrysalises when they awoke expecting to be engorged on the souls of millions as the world was said to belong to them when they emerged from their slumber. However, instead they learnt that their parents were slain and mankind still ruled the Earth with them instead being weak and hungry. Thus, the sought out the children of the Pride namely the Runaways in order to collect on the debt that was owed to the Gibborim. The Runaways attempted to fight them with the Seed ready to destroy them but Alex Wilder convinced them that they would re-forge the pact by accomplishing a new Rite of Thunder. The Seed agreed and left one of their own namely Gib to watch over the Runaways to ensure that they completed the ritual. (Runaways v5 #14)
Overview
In appearance, the Gibborim were giants of various shapes and sizes that towered over humans with them possessing six digits on their hands as well as toes. (Runaways v1 #13)
The children of these elder gods were the Seeds of the Gibborim who remained in chrysalises where they were meant to awaken in the world after it was given to them by their parents. According to them, they were told that they would emerge where they were to awake fully engorged on power with the souls of millions fortifying them. (Runaways v5 #14)

- The Gibborim were created by Brian K. Vaughan and Adrian Alphona where they made their first appearance in Runaways v1 #13 (March, 2004).

Television
- In Runaways, the Church of Gibborim appeared in the live-action television series set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It was headed by Leslie Dean with it being considered a religious cult with its teachings based on the Book of the Gibborim.
