Biography

Gog

Born in the realm of Haizlip, the creature that became known as Gog was given to a prince as a pet alongside another of his kind that was given to a princess. During this time, the Haizli fell into a civil war with the loyalist population being forced to evacuate and the pet Gog was placed on an evacuation ship. The cargo ship carrying the prince's cherished pet became lost where it came to crash on Earth. (Amazing Spider-Man v5 #42)

Within Antarctica, an expedition into an unexplored region headed by Mr. Calkin came upon Gog and barely survived the encounter. Upon returning to civilisation, he recounted the experience on the news with this attracting the interest of J. Jonah Jameson. He then assembled an expedition headed by Calkin that included Peter Parker and his girlfriend Gwen Stacy as they travelled to the Savage Land. (Amazing Spider-Man v1 #103)

Personality and attributes

In appearance, Gog was a giant monstrous humanoid with a pair of arms and legs whilst possessing a tail. (Amazing Spider-Man v1 #103)

Powers and abilities

Gog in Amazing Spier-Man v5 #42.

Exposure to Pym Particles allowed him to be reduced in size to that of a small animal. (Amazing Spider-Man v5 #43)

  • Gog was created by Roy Thomas and Gil Kane where he made his first appearance in Amazing Spider-Man #103 (December, 1971).
  • The character received an entry in Marvel Monsters: From the Files of Ulysses Bloodstone (and the Monster Hunters) v1 #1 (2005) that detailed more of his background.
