History

The Gordanians were a reptilian extraterrestrial species that were native to the Vega star system.

Their race rose to civilized society on the Gordane continent of the planet Karna. The Gordanian society thrives on obedience to authority and military leadership. Their culture expanded thanks to the labor of legions of captured slaves, and slavery became the Gordanian's main vocation after warfare. Hundreds of years ago the Citadel annexed the Gordanians in exchange for a steady supply of weapons and technology. The Gordanians retained some freedom and a token governing body called The Tribunal, but they had little reason to object to their new relationship with the Citadel. Gordanian colonies were soon set up on the planets Slagg, Hnyxx, the Prison Planet and Citadel Homeworld. These new colonies paid tribute money to the Citadel and served in the Citadel army. Gordanians helped the Citadel conquer the planet Tamaran and enslave Starfire II, princess of that world. Years later Starfire escaped to Earth, and the initial Gordanian retrieval party was forced back by the New Teen Titans. The Gordanians succeeded in recapturing Starfire for a time under the leadership of Blackfire. (New Teen Titans v1 #3)

At some point, they came to operate as slavers on behalf of the Citadel empire. (Tales of the New Teen Titans v1 #4)

The slave-ship Q'st'r was travelling by the Sol system when Koriand'r managed to flee to the planet Earth. Pursuing her, they came to the U.N. Plaza where they were confronted by the Teen Titans. (New Teen Titans v1 #1)

They were noted to had been involved in the New Citadel Wars where they fought against the Tamaranean fleet. (New Titans v1 #127) Equipped by the Psions, a Gordanian fleet of 12 Class-9 Bloodstars nearly annihilated a Tamaranean fleet of over 700 warships in a great battle. Not a single Bloodstar was lost, while only 90 Tamaranean ships survived and over 8 million refugee colonists on two moons were collateral deaths. The Tamaranean homeworld of Tamaran was then attacked by 11 of those ships, and it was destroyed. (New Titans v1 #128) The surviving Tamaraneans continued to battle the Psions and Gordanians who were allied with the now evil corrupted Raven. (New Titans v1 #129) With their aid, they were able to defeat the combined Psion and Gordanian forces. (New Titans v1 #130)

Adam Strange used Zeta-Beams to teleport the En’Taran Slavemasters away from Rann, and sent them to be watched over by the Gordanians of the prison planet Takron-Galtos. (JLA v1 #21)

After Starro The Conqueror usurped L.E.G.I.O.N. and conquered the Dominator homeworld, the Gordanians and other extraterrestrial civilizations prepared for war with Starro. Vril Dox and his R.E.B.E.L.S. attacked the Gordanians so he could use their subspace transmitter, regaining control of his L.E.G.I.O.N. droids and sending them to Starro's base of Maltus. They then formed a forcefield around Maltus, effectively trapping Starro there. (R.E.B.E.L.S. v1 #6)

One type of vessel used by them were Class-9 Bloodstars that were massive warships provided to the Gordanians by the Psions. These were powerful enough to nearly annihilate enemy forces that outnumber them 60 to 1 without any losses and a dozen of them could destroy a world. (New Titans v1 #128)
