History

Pre-Crisis

The original Titans in The Brave and the Bold v1 #60.

The Teen Titans were a team of young super-heroes who are the former sidekicks of older, and more experienced heroes. They first came together when Robin, Aqualad and Kid Flash responded to an emergency taking place in the hamlet village known as Hatton Corners. There they fought a mysterious villain calling himself Mister Twister. After defeating Mister Twister and robbing him of his elemental powers, the three young heroes decided to band together as the Teen Titan. (The Brave and the Bold v1 #54)

Their first actual mission as the Teen Titans also yielded the team's first recruit – Wonder Girl. Donna Troy was a young heroine raised on Paradise Island under the tutelage of her mentor Wonder Woman and Wonder Woman's mother, Queen Hippolyta. Another charter member was the archer, Roy Harper, more commonly known as Speedy. Though present since the team's inception, Speedy did not regularly attend team meetings or partake in all of the team's endeavors. The team's first adventure brought them to the town of Midville, where they fought against Jake Trask – the Separated Man, who had been terrorizing the town's 'Teen Government for a Day' Project. (The Brave and the Bold v1 #60)

After unveiling the mystery behind the so-called "Beast-God of Xochatan", the Titans established their first headquarters – Titans Lair. (Teen Titans v1 #2) The Lair had once been an underground facility that served as a records storage warehouse for Wayne Enterprises. The team prospered and went on to encounter several strange villains such as car-club hot-rodder, Ding Dong Daddy and Carnaby Street fashion designer, the Mad Mod. The Teen Titans then tried to help Richard (Dick) reform Bruce Wayne's new ward and found themselves on a mission to capture a criminal organization that hijacked oil operations in Gotham. (The Brave and the Bold v1 #83)

Post-Crisis

The new Teen Titans in Teen Titans v3 #1.

Following the Crisis on Infinite Earths, a new version of reality was created with a different history of events.

Raven visited the individual residences of Robin, Wonder Girl, Kid Flash, Starfire, Cyborg, and Changeling to solicit their participation in a collective mission. Raven utilized her soul-self to teleport herself and various members to the United Nations building in New York City. The assembled individuals engaged in a physical confrontation against a group of invading extraterrestrials known as the Gordanian warriors. During the skirmish, Starfire utilized solar energy bolts to repel attackers, while Cyborg employed his sonic cannon and Robin utilized his physical combat skills. Changeling altered his physical form into various animals to provide tactical support, and Wonder Girl and Kid Flash used their respective superhuman strength and speed to neutralize enemy forces. The group coordinated their efforts to disable a Gordanian spacecraft and prevent the abduction of Starfire. Following the neutralization of the immediate threat, the participants remained in the area to discuss the implications of the extraterrestrial presence and their status as a unified organization. (New Teen Titans v1 #1) The members of the group traveled to an apartment in New York City to address a request for assistance from Silas Stone. They entered the residence and encountered a group of intruders known as the Puppeteer's drones, who were attempting to seize technical components. During the ensuing physical confrontation, the team utilized their individual capabilities, including Robin’s tactical combat maneuvers and Kid Flash’s high-speed kinetic strikes, to dismantle the mechanical constructs. Cyborg utilized his integrated weaponry to repel the attackers while Wonder Girl and Starfire engaged in direct combat to secure the perimeter. Following the skirmish, the individuals relocated to an island in the East River to inspect a newly constructed multi-level headquarters facility. While at the site, they examined the structural layout and integrated technology, including a computer monitoring system and training areas. The group also encountered a local resident named Grant Emerson and engaged in a brief interaction before he departed the area. The team members concluded their activities by occupying the facility and establishing operational protocols for their continued collective actions. (New Teen Titans v1 #2)

An army of Earth's heroes, including the Teen Titans, appeared to take Superboy-Prime down during the Sinestro Corps invasion of Earth. The heroes focused on wrecking his armor, because after a year on Oa, and away from a yellow sun his Kryptonian body still was not at full strength, and his armor collected sunlight. Superboy bragged that once the sun rose on Earth he would be at full power. Superboy was battered by Wonder Girl and Wonder Woman, who blamed him for Superboy's death, as well as Supergirl and Power Girl, who blamed him for the death of the Superman of Earth-2. As the fight went against him, Superboy broke down in tears. He tried to wipe them away, saying that it was impossible for boys to cry, and then whining that no one ever thanked him for sacrificing his Earth to save the multiverse. The battle lasted until dawn, and he flew into the sunrise. As he achieved full power he declared himself the one, true Superman. The Guardians arrived with Sodam Yat, the new Ion, and pitted him against Superboy-Prime. (Tales of the Sinestro Corps: Superman-Prime v1 #1)

Post-Flashpoint

Robin's Teen Titans in Teen Titans v6 #31.

Following the Flashpoint, a new version of reality was created with a different history of events.

Fighting against a mysterious organization called N.O.W.H.E.R.E. which abducts young metahumans and kills the ones who refuse to follow their orders, Tim Drake recruits several teenagers targeted by this new, menacing enemy. Red Robin wants to build an alliance, as he knows that they cannot go against N.O.W.H.E.R.E. alone. He first reaches out to Cassie Sandsmark, a girl with the powers of an amazon, but fails to convince her to join his initiative. (Teen Titans v4 #1)

Overview

Following the seeming death of Roy Harper and the exploits created by a recent group of Teen Titans that were led by Damian Wayne, the original Titans decided to turn their old Titans Tower into an academy to train young heroes. Dick Grayson recruited what was left of Damian's team and offered them to join the academy, which they accepted. (Teen Titans v6 #47) It was officially named Roy Harper Titans Academy and based at Titans Tower with it also being called Titans Academy. (Future State: Teen Titans v1 #1)
