History
The Graviton Beam Emitter or the Graviton Radiation Projector was a fired a highly condensed energy beam that could repel beams from other weapons.
Similar weapons are used by certain Safeguards - the giant Safeguard has one built into its mouth, and Sanakan has one built in her right arm. When working for the Governing Agency, she has her own weapon very similar to Killy's, except physically larger.
Overview
GBE's was the only known weapon capable of penetrating the solid layers between levels of the Megastructure. There was no known way of stopping the beam, although there are several known instances where GBE shots have been deflected through varying means. Only a perfected GBE could sustain a high output for long periods. The weapon draws its power directly from the user, meaning it has unlimited ammo so long as the user has power. The weapon was extremely resistant to external damage, to the point of being able to survive submerging in a lava flow
The weapon was divided into different levels that included:
- Level 0 : Not strictly a level as such, but rather a representation of the gun's idle state.
- Level 1 : The most basic shot of the GBE. Killy probably uses this often at the beginning of the series due to the nature of the enemies he has to defeat - mostly Silicon Creatures - who can be dispatched with a single shot.
- Level 2 : Neither of these settings is fired in the manga, and they are only ever shown when Killy charges up the GBE to Level 4.
- Level 3 : Neither of these settings is fired in the manga, and they are only ever shown when Killy charges up the GBE to Level 4.
- Level 4 : The most destructive mode shown in the manga until Level 4 Extra. First used by Killy against the President of the Corporation in the Capitol.
- Level 4 Extra : The final and most destructive power level. Killy first uses it against the giant Safeguard outside Toha Heavy Industries, powering up by extracting energy from the surrounding dead Safeguard Exterminators and channeling it into the gun. Level 4 Extra is the only one in which the GBE undergoes a physical transformation. In the manga, this power level is only used during three fights: first against the giant Safeguard, then after Killy has been caught in the blast of the Level 9 Safeguard, and finally against the First Class Exterminator.
