Great Tree

Located in the middle of a festering swamp, the Great Tree was the home of the Lord of Darkness. It was precisely what its name implies: a gigantic tree sitting on an island in the marsh. Darkness' lair was not in the Tree itself however, but rather in an underground castle accessible only through hidden passageways on the surface (and, for many unlucky explorers, many of these were traps which led directly to the Dark Lord's kitchen). The Tree also seems to have an infamous reputation, as Gump explained at one point that when Darkness ruled the world thousands of years ago, "the wicked came here to sacrifice."
