History

The Guild (組合,ギルド Girudo?) were a secret society established in America that consisted of those people with special abilities. Around two generations ago, Herman Melville had served as the leader of the Guild and had led them.

At some point, Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald came to rise as the new leader of the Guild.

Prior to their journey, they applied pressure to Japanese diplomats to extend them immunity and the ability to operate in Japan with their gifted powers. As a result, even the special operations division being unable to take action against them and the police not being allowed to detain any Guild member.

As a result, the Guild decided to enact their final contingency which was the Yokohama Incineration Operation where they sought to destroy the city of Yokohama.

Their ultimate plan to achieve this was packing a large amount of ordnance into the Moby Dick that was to reach a position above Yokohama and then fall crashing down into the city to destroy it. After learning of the ships location, the Armed Detective Agency dispatched Atsushi to infiltrate the giant airship. Unknown to him, the Guild's plan was leaked to Akutagawa who similarly had orchestrated his own plan to enter the ship. Once on-board, Akutagawa massacred the few Guild personnel on the ship. They then confronted Melville who revealed the Guild's plan for the Moby Dick and that it was a trap that intended to destroy the city. Melville despite disagreeing with the plan was unable to stop it as the control terminal remained with Fitzgerald who had stayed on-board the ship. Fitzgerald had intended to guard the control terminal for the Moby Dick and use his power to survive the crash. He was confronted by Atsushi and then by Akutagawa with the pair being forced to work together. Despite his power, the pair ultimately managed to defeat him with Atsushi using the control terminal to cause the Moby Dick to ascend. However, an outside faction overrode the controls of the Moby Dick in order to get it to crash into Yokohama. Kouka who was on-board a remote piloted aircraft managed to stop the disaster by sending the plane crashing into he Moby Dick knocking it off course and into the water. As a result, the city was saved as the giant airship landed safely and had not detonated.

In the aftermath, it was said that the Japanese gifted special division proceeded then to make arrests of the few Guild members that they could find responsible for the attack. With the seeming death of Fitzgerald, the Guild became fractured and leaderless as different individuals rose up in insurrection with them seeking to take control of the organization. Unknown to anyone, Fitzgerald had survived but the loss had left him defeated and sought to abandon his old life. However, his strategist Louise Alcott sought him out and managed to convince him to return with him looking to rebuild his fortune. Through skill, he managed to purchase a company with his limited finances with this becoming the basis of the new Guild.

Overview

It was said that the Guild was neither good nor evil but simply did what needed to be done. The agents of the organization received large sums of money as compensation for their efforts and did their orders willingly to benefit themselves.
