Following the Flashpoint, a new version of reality was created with a different history of events.

For many years, Haly's Circus was known to had an association with the secret society known as the Court of Owls who controlled Gotham City from the shadows. Part of the arrangement involved the Circus presenting a crop of child athletes to the Court every decade with candidates taken to become one of their Talon assassins for that particular era. He arranged for Dick Grayson to meet him at the warehouse that stored the circus's equipment where he gave him the deeds for Haly's Circus. The assassin Saiko later attacked the old man and used him as a hostage so that he could fight Nightwing after learning that the vigilante and Dick Grayson were the same person.
