Hedorah (Japanese: ヘドラ, Hepburn Hedora)
Also known as the Smog Monster. Hedorah was spawned from the combination of an alien mineral and toxic wastes dumped into the ocean. 'His' name was coined by Dr. Toru Yano's son, Ken. The creature began as many tadpole-like creatures, which eventually combined into one giant frog-like creature. Later, it metamorphosed into a flying manta ray-like form, which left a trail of sulfuric acid mist as 'exhaust.'
Its final form was a humanoid. Hedorah could not only blast toxic chemicals and gases at its enemies, but also fire eyebeams. Godzilla fought the monster, but was unable to harm it- the military was forced to assist by dehydrating the creature, which was its only weakness.

Overview
Personality and attributes
In appearance, Hedorah was a grotesque, ever-changing sludge monster composed of toxic waste, smog, and living alien matter. Its body was amorphous, with dripping tar-like skin, gaping red eyes set in folds of muck, and a shifting, slimy form that could reshape into aquatic, bipedal, or flying versions. Its appearance was designed to embody pollution itself: a walking mass of industrial by-product and filth.
Hedorah acted as a destructive force of nature rather than a thinking, strategic enemy. It was driven by instinct, feeding endlessly on pollution and waste while showing little regard for anything else. It displayed cruelty in its spread of acid mist and sludge, casually suffocating and melting anything in its path. Though alien in origin, Hedorah behaved less like a conqueror and more like an invasive, parasitic infestation that sought only to consume and grow.
Powers and abilities
Hedorah’s main ability was its amorphous physiology, allowing it to survive in multiple forms: aquatic, humanoid, and airborne. It thrived on pollution, feeding off toxic waste, smoke, and chemicals, which constantly regenerated its body. Its offensive powers included discharging acidic sludge, releasing sulfuric acid mist, and firing corrosive projectiles. Its sludge body allowed it to engulf enemies, smothering or dissolving them with acid. As a flying smog form, it could blanket entire regions with toxins, devastating human and military forces. Its one weakness was vulnerability to desiccation—when deprived of moisture, its body hardened, making it possible for Godzilla and human technology to destroy it.
