Biography

Himiko Toga (Japanese: 渡と我が被ひ身み子こ, Hepburn: Toga Himiko?) was a female human born in Japan as mankind experienced a surge in superpowered Quirk users. She was born as the eldest daughter of the Toga family. When she was a child, Himiko showcased a rather disturbing and morbid interest in blood. She once brought a dead, bloodied bird to her parents and cheerfully asked them if it was 'pretty', which in turn scarred and disturbed them. They accused her of killing the bird, drinking its blood, and smiling about it, but Himiko cried saying she found it on the ground in the yard. Disgusted with her erratic behavior, her parents tried to suppress it from a young age by putting immense pressure on her to be 'normal', sending her to Quirk counselling for her to be reformed and attempt to resolve her 'deviant behavior'. Since then, she began to repress and hide her 'abnormal' tendencies and began to act like an 'ideal young schoolgirl expected of society'. She successfully hid this side of herself so thoroughly that by the time she was a middle school student, Himiko was known by her classmates as a 'cheerful and well-behaved girl', becoming a normal student with many friends. However, despite her counselling, her behavior continued to cause social problems. Himiko would observe the world and how people shared their love and would question why they do things and why the way she does it wrong. Her parents confront her after learning she drank her friend's blood, but she claims they were hurt so she was just sucking the injury, which they say isn't normal. With tears in her eyes, she says she did not understand, asking if everyone fights their urge to be the way they want to be, wondering why nobody sucks blood like her. Her parents break down saying she is rotten to the core, having given birth to something inhuman, which drove a crying Himiko to her breaking point.

Later during middle school, she witnessed a boy attending her school named Saito, fighting at school and getting covered in bruises and blood. Awakening her repressed "abnormal" feelings and tendencies, Himiko experienced what she believed to be a crush on him. She had wanted to confess her feelings by asking him to suck his blood, but she knew she could never do that since he would think she's not cute at all, causing her to repress these feelings. Sometime later, Himiko succumbed to this infatuation and attacked him using a box cutter, wherein she stuck a straw into his wound and began sucking his blood while crying and, according to a passing classmate who had witnessed the assault, had a look of ecstasy. Soon after, she disappeared and went into hiding, as she was now a wanted suspect due to the attack. The incident was made public and Himiko's family were questioned by the news, where her parents apologized and said that they tried to help their daughter but claimed that she was always a lost cause, branding her as a "demon" and publicly cutting all ties with her. Himiko went on to become a major suspect in multiple murders involving bloodletting. However, she managed to successfully evade both the Police and Pro Heroes.

Three days following the Hero Killer's arrest, Himiko is first seen skipping down a dark alleyway. She has headphones on and listens to the news report on Stain's capture. Later on, before she moves on towards the League of Villains, Himiko is seen blushing in front of a man that is bleeding in an alleyway. Giran brings Himiko and Dabi to the League of Villains. Himiko was excited to meet 'the hand guy' and asks him to let her join the group. Tomura Shigaraki wants them both thrown out, but Kurogiri convinces him to give them a chance. Giran introduces Himiko as a cute high school girl who was the suspect in a series of murders by blood loss and whose appearance and name has been kept from the public. Himiko goes onto present herself and says life is too hard and she wants to make it easier to live. She goes on to say that she wants to be like Stain, she wants to kill Stain, and she really wants to join Tomura's group. Tomura asks Giran if she is crazy. Giran replies she is competent enough to be of use and then introduced Dabi. Dabi questions the League's commitments to the Hero Killer's mission because he cannot believe they would let someone as crazy as Himiko in if they are. She was taken back by his comment and Tomura defended her by saying at least she had the decency to introduce herself. After arguing with Dabi, Tomura took offense to the recruits' loyalty to Stain and attacked them. Himiko drew her knife and counterattacked, but Kurogiri used his Quirk to stop the fight. Tomura then stormed out and Kurogiri asked the new recruits to be patient because an answer will come for them soon. Himiko mentioned that she thought Tomura was going to kill her.

Himiko is eventually recruited to the League of Villains and assigned to the Vanguard Action Squad. Tomura acquires equipment for the team and has them pick it up at an unknown warehouse location. Himiko announces there is enough gear for everyone and they should bring it along on their mission. Muscular adds they need to hurry up, but Mustard disagrees because the team has been ordered not to rush or do anything too flashy. Dabi proclaims that their mission will be a warning shot that will tear down the false heroes from their shining pedestals and drag them back to earth in order to create a new future for the world. The next day, Himiko and six other villains secretly arrive at the Wild, Wild Pussycats' forest reserve, where U.A. High School students are training. The Vanguard Action Squad observes the campsite from a high vantage point. Himiko puts on her new gear and complains about the way it looks, stating that it is not cute. Mustard argues that she should be concerned about its functionality. She ignores him and says that it is not stylish enough for her. The Vanguard Action Squad begins their assault the next evening. Himiko finds Ochaco and Tsuyu walking through the forest and cuts Ochaco's upper left arm open. The wound is not large enough for Himiko to collect a lot of blood. She mentions that she normally sucks it straight from the wound. Without not enough time to do that, Himiko arms herself with the blood-draining devices from her new equipment. Tsuyu flings Ochaco away after Himiko rushes at them. Himiko cuts Tsuyu's tongue and notices that Ochaco called Tsuyu, "Tsu-chan". Himiko likes this name and declares she will call Tsuyu that too. Tsuyu refuses her and says only her friends can call her by her nickname. Himiko pins Tsuyu to a tree by her hair and says that they must become friends if that is the case.

Ochaco returns to save Tsuyu and Himiko stabs at her. Ochaco evades before using martial arts to slam Himiko and restrain her. Himiko starts talking to Ochaco, noting that they have the same smell because they are in love with someone. She goes on to explain that someone who is in love tries to become the person they love. Himiko says she loves people who are cut up and bleeding and that it is fun for the girls to be talking about their crushes. This distracts Ochaco long enough for Himiko to stab her leg and drain her blood with a needle. Other students arrive at the scene, so Himiko quickly flees, fearing that taking on a large group will get her killed. Before she fully retreats, Izuku Midoriya catches her eye. Ochaco wants to pursue Himiko, but Tsuyu stops her because they do not know anything about the villain or her Quirk. Following Mr. Compress' successful capture of Katsuki Bakugo, Himiko regroups with the remaining villains. Dabi inquires about Himiko's mission to collect three blood samples. She admits she only got one person. Twice asks why she appears to be so upbeat after failing. Himiko replies that she has made new friends and found a boy she is interested in. The same boys who interrupted her fight earlier abruptly arrive after tackling Mr. Compress to the ground. Himiko jumped on top of Izuku as he falls to the ground and tries to stab him, only for Mezo Shoji to push her away from him. Himiko threatens Mezo for getting in her way. Kurogiri arrives to warp the villains to safety. As Himiko enters a portal, she apologizes and says goodbye to Izuku, hoping to see her crush again another day.

Overview

Personality and attributes

In appearance, Himiko Toga was a fair-skinned human girl who was prone to blushing and was frequently described as having a pretty face. She has inward-tilting yellow eyes with thin slit-like irises, somewhat resembling those of a cat, and her wide mouth is also rather feline, as her canines are pointed and longer than the rest of her teeth, giving her a vampiric appearance. Her hair is a pale, ash-blonde color and is styled into two messy buns, with numerous wild strands sticking out, a straight fringe and two chin-length side bangs framing her face.

Himiko was visibly mentally unstable and has a very twisted perception of love and friendship. This is evidenced when, despite her attempting to kill Ochaco Uraraka and Tsuyu Asui, she tries to befriend the two girls as they fight, affectionately calling Tsuyu by her first name and describing the former as "lovely". When talking to Ochaco, she says that it's only natural to want to be like the one you love, and for Himiko this is taken to the point of literally becoming that person. She further explains and compares that like how "normal" people kiss the people they love as "normal", she sucks the blood of the people she loves as this is her "normal", further showing her twisted understanding of love. She uses this to justify her carving up and butchering "guys who are tattered and reeking of blood", as they fit the description of her ideal lover. Additionally, although it may seem so, Himiko's interest isn't just superficial, as her questioning Izuku Midoriya about what his values and beliefs imply, showing that although twisted, she does indeed want to know more about the person she loves.

During her later confrontation with Izuku in the Final War, it's shown that despite the twisted way in which she acts when infatuated, her affection for Izuku was absolutely genuine and without any inherent malevolence. This was demonstrated when Izuku's Danger Sense did not detect Himiko even when she runs at him with a knife. The love she felt seemed to be no different from what 'normal' people felt, but she simply did not know how to express it in a normal manner due to her warped mental state. This was the reasoning behind her constantly seeking battle with and the blood of those she loved in order to become closer to them.

For a long time, she had wanted to become other people so badly. This caused her to experience fits of jealousy and affection that led to her 'drinking' all of their blood.

Her parents had forcibly looked to reform her and resolve her 'deviant behaviour'. As a result, Himiko began to repress and her her more 'abnormal' tendencies in order to act like an ideal young schoolgirl as expected from society.

Powers and abilities

Himiko was one of the many humans born on Earth with a Quirk (個こ性せい Kosei?, lit. "Individuality"). This was a Meta Ability (異い能のう Inō?, lit. "Extraordinary Ability") that gave her a unique superhuman ability.

As a Quirk wielder, she came to possess her own superhuman ability which was Transform (変へん身しん Henshin?) that granted her the ability to transform into a physical copy of another individual where she replicated them completely to the point of sounding just like the person.

Himiko was an exceptionally talented and dangerous combatant who's not only capable of contending with Pro Heroes in close-quarters combat, but is a master of disguise, infiltration, and stealth, mostly due to her shapeshifting Quirk, Transform. With espionage being one of her most prominent traits, holding her breath and clearing her mind allows Himiko to erase her presence and allegedly vanish from her enemies' view. Her powers were not limited to ambushes, as it can be used in combat as well, disappearing if the opponent averts their attention from her, even for an instant. And despite lacking a Quirk that amplifies her combat abilities, Himiko effectively utilizes her incredible agility, reflexes, and acrobatic skills. She is also adept at creating openings to conceal herself, such as intentionally forcing an opponent to dodge.

She came to be a member of the criminal organization known as the League of Villains (敵ヴィラン連れん合ごう Viran Rengō?).
