Howard Huge was once a world-famous aviation designer, the jolly, corpulant hippo known as Howard Huge went insane for unclear reasons and began to design a number of enormous, bulky, impractical airplanes. Among them was the Spruce Moose, which no one thought could fly so it was turned into a restaurant. Although eventually Owl Capone and his gang would prove that the Spruce Moose was indeed capable of flight when they stole it, Huge, by that time, had left Cape Suzette to pursue his own maniacal aviation dreams.

Huge's seemingly harmless eccentricity soon degenerated in outright megalomania. He set up a secret headquarters on an island in the middle of the dreaded Bermuda Trapazoid and, using a giant magnet, would cause planes flying through the Trapazoid to crash on his island. Among the pilots who vanished without a trace thanks to Huge were Amelia Airhead, Charles Limburger, and Oscar Wigglestomper. Aided by the Goons (apparently on loan from Trader Moe), Huge would round up and imprison the luckless pilots, tearing their planes apart and using the scrap metal to construct his greatest achievment, a plane even bigger than the Spruce Moose, the Titanium Turkey.

The last of Huge's victims was Baloo, who had flown into the Trapazoid in an attempt to be the first to successfully navigate it. Using his giant magnet to bring down the Sea Duck, Huge was disappointed to learn that the cargo plane was missing its googleschlocker gyrocompass, the final component he needed for the Titanium Turkey. Undeterred, Huge imprisoned Baloo anyway and opted to launch the Turkey without the gyrocompass and use the Sea Duck as 'a lifeboat.' He and the Goons soon imprisoned Rebecca Cunningham, Kit Cloudkicker, and Wildcat too when they came looking for Baloo.

They soon escaped, however, taking the other captive pilots with them, and lured Huge away from the completed Titanium Turkey with a Choco-Thriller candy bar (Huge fell for it because he hadn't had a Choco-Thriller 'in years'). They boarded the Turkey and attempted to fly away. Realizing he'd been had, Huge turned the giant magnet on the Turkey and attempted to draw it back to the island. However, they ran an electrical current through the plane's hull, reversing its magnetic polarity and escaping. The formerly imprisoned pilots were all reunited with their families, and before Huge could leave his island he was arrested by the police after they'd been told of the island's location by Rebecca.

Comments

Howard Huge was obviously inspired by real-life airplane designer Howard Hughes.
