History
The Hyperclan were a team of White Martian who served as soldiers for their people and their premiere warriors. (JLA v1 #4)
Protex and his seven colleagues came to Earth several years ago, claiming to be the last survivors of a world that had been destroyed by geological upheaval an environmental irresponsibility. Vowing to never allow such catastrophe to even occur again, the Hyperclan allegedly journeyed through space for "a thousand gyres", seeking out planets in need of saving.
Protex exuded radiance and charisma that immediately endeared him to the people of Earth, but others, such as the members of the recently re-formed JLA were dubious of his supposed good intents.
Their exploits came to capture the hearts and minds of the people of Earth. (JLA v1 #2)
To prove his word to the people of Earth, Protex led the Hyperclan on an ambitious plan to terra-form the barren Sahara Desert, transforming it into a vibrant, lush, paradise. Superman grew even more concerned over these supposed "miracle cures", citing that such a fast and dramatic change to the environment could have unpredictable, even disastrous implications in the future. His warnings went unheeded however, and the people of Earth denounced the Justice League in favor of Protex's team.
In short order, Protex insinuated his way into the public consciousness and even took dramatic steps towards improving American law enforcement. His Hyperclan began capturing and executing known criminals, ignoring standard practices such as due process. Even these seemingly controversial acts were met with great support.
Protex began erecting massive watchtower citadels all across the globe. One of the fortresses was actually an ancient Martian colony buried beneath the ice of Antarctica called Z'onn Z'orr.
At this point in time, nobody knew of the Hyperclan's Martian origins, not even the Justice League. It was generally accepted that the Martians were an extinct race and that the only known survivor of the red planet was the League's own Martian Manhunter.
An armada of Martian warships tucked away in a hyperspace pocket called the Still Zone, ready to attack Earth at his order. A detachment of these Martians even made a proactive attempt to take out the previous incarnation of the Justice League, destroying their satellite headquarters and nearly killing Metamorpho. (JLA v1 #1) As tensions between the two teams heated up, it was not long before the Hyperclan and the Justice League came to blows. Protex approached the Martian Manhunter and tried to sway him into betraying the League and joining the Hyperclan. He had hoped to play on the Manhunter's feelings of isolation to win him over, but ultimately, the Manhunter stood by his teammates. The rest of the Hyperclan engaged the other League members, ultimately capturing Aquaman, Flash, Green Lantern and Wonder Woman. (JLA v1 #2)
Overview
In appearance, the Hyperclan were a team of White Martian warriors all of whom had the natural abilities of their race including flight, shapechanging, invisibility, telepathic mind control and Martian Vision. (JLA v1 #4)
On Earth, the global headquarters of the Hyperclan was the fortress of Z'onn Z'orr located within the Antarctic ice fields. They had two other outposts that included a domed city in the Mongolia desert and another floating city in the Pacific. All three were referred to as Watchtowers that allowed the Hyperclan to respond rapidly to any incident on the planet. (JLA v1 #2)

Alternate Versions
- In Legion of Super-Heroes in the 31st Century v1 #11 (2008), an alternate version of the Hyperclan appeared in the comic series that were tied to the animated television series. This version were a group of Green Martians who were a small band of dangerous separatists that operated in the 31st century. The Hyperclan formed that distorted teachings of J'onn J'onnz as they attempted to remove the United Planets along with other races from Mars.
- In Future State: Justice League v1 #1 (2021), the Hyperclan appeared in the alternate possible future timeline of Future State. They were revealed to had been trapped on Earth-Omega with this being a sentence that was torturous to them due to the inhospitable nature of that world. By 2030, they came to be freed from their imprisonment by T.O. Morrow's Legion of Doom where the Hyperclan killed the group of supervillains. They then masqueraded as this era's Justice League that were a new generation of young heroes that had claimed the mantle of their forebears. In this guise, they attacked the real Justice League and exiled them to Earth-Omega where they continued in this guise as they sought to take over the Earth. Disguised as the League, the Hyperclan would work to become beloved by the world, delivering humanitarian aid, rebuilding the Hall of Justice and making media tours. They also secretly stole Martian technology being studied in Earth laboratories and kidnapped scientists to build a device which would kill millions of humans and revert the remainder to a primitive state where the Hyperclan could rule over them as gods. However, the League escaped their prison and attacked before they could activate the device. The Hyperclan attempted to trick the League by impersonating the other members, but the League were able to see through their disguises due to information they had learned about each other. The Hyperclan were defeated and returned to their interdimensional prison.
