Ivan as portrayed in the 1932 film of The Most Dangerous Game

Ivan was the hulking Cossack servant of General Zaroff. He was deaf and mute, incapable of either speaking or hearing, and he was also fiercely loyal to the General. Whosoever refused to he hunted by Zaroff was given to Ivan who took great pleasure in flaying them alive with a whip. Ivan accompanied General Zaroff on one of his hunts, to search for the General's latest quarry, Sanger Rainsford. Rainsford used his hunting knife to rig a booby trap which flung the knife into Ivan, killing him.

The Most Dangerous Game (1932)

Ivan here is essentially identical to the character from the short story, except he dies being impaled on a sharpened bamboo chute erected by Rainsford as a trap.
