Biography
Jezebel Jet
Jezebel and her mother were won by the African dictator Jacob Nkele in a wager set by the Black Glove, a criminal cabal of the wealthy elite that played with the lives of normal people. Nkele came to marry Jet’s mother and ultimately adopted her, but later accused her mother of crimes and put her on death row. Before she died Jet’s mother sent her a tear-stained letter from death row, and the note would become the only thing Jet valued emotionally in her life. The Black Glove completely corrupted Jet, and made her a member. With their help she aided Nkele’s political rivals, who had him assassinated. With his death Jezebel Jet became the new President of Mtambe. (Batman v1 #681)
Bruce and Alfred watched an episode of The Scene discussing Bruce’s relationship with Jezebel Jet. They read from the tabloid Gotham Noir suggested that Bruce was going to propose to her when they were set to raise money for charity by base jumping. Alfred seemed annoyed with Bruce, who reminded him it was Alfred's idea for him to not ignore his civilian life. Alfred admitted that what he was suggesting was superficial liaisons. Bruce felt a connection to Jezebel because she’d lost her father and gave up her life to carry on his work, so like him, she knew what it was like to have your life completely changed by violence. Bruce and Jezebel went base jumping when Bruce spotted the bat-signal and told Alfred to tell Jet he’s overshot the penthouse or whatever excuse came to his mind, and promised to be back as soon as he could. Batman confronted the Bat-Devil, who blamed batman for his existence. Bat-Devil shot Batman in the chest, and although his bulletproof costume protected himself somewhat he was badly injured and had a heart attack. His backup personality as the Batman of Zur-En Arrh began to emerge. (Batman v1 #672)
