Overview

The Key of Solomon, also known as the Book of Solomon, was a legendary artifact that was linked to the ancient King Solomon who was noted as being a wise ruler over three thousand years ago. It was stated that it had the power to summon the spirits of the underworld as well as bend the fabric of time and space itself. The projection of the magical Book of Solomon could be done so by incanting the words in the tome in the Chamber of the Dead Kings that sat above a pool of lava and was channeled through the Altar of Fire. This made him a supreme power during his era but during the end of his reign he decided to seal the majority of his artifacts as well as treasures including the book away from the world. Thus, he enlisted the aid of twenty five Masons who constructed the mythical King Solomon's Mines where the Key of Solomon was stored deep in Africa by the volcanic caverns of the Three Witch Mountains. In order to protect the secrets of King Solomon, the twenty five Masons formed the Order of the Cryptic Masons who protected the secrets of the mines.

For generations, the Cryptic Masons guarded the secrets of King Solomon's Mines until Flynn Carsen's father friend Jerry learnt of it. Knowing that the elder Carsen was a member of the Order, he demanded to know the location of the Key of Solomon to which Carsen refused which led to Jerry killing him. His act of murder was unknown to anyone and for years he spent his time trying to locate King Solomon's Mines. Eventually, a grown up Flynn Carsen was dispatched by the Library to protect the secrets of King Solomon. Unaware of his uncle Jerry's involvement in the matter, Flynn came into conflict with the henchmen of General Samir who worked for Jerry. Eventually, Flynn made his way into the Mines where Jerry obtained the Book of Solomon. He intended to use the Key to alter history itself as he believed that the elder Carsen had taken his woman from him and deprived him of the life he wanted. Thus, he began the incantation to change history until Flynn stopped him.

However, Jerry attempted to appeal to Flynn's love for his lost father and said to him to finish the incantation to bring back his father. It was only the actions of Emily that stopped Flynn Carsen from finishing the ritual whcih had brought back numerous vengeful spirits of the dead into the cavern. Flynn decided to take an act for the greater good and threw the Book of Solomon into the lava pool below and a desperate Jerry jumped in to save it where he was killed as a result. This led to the ultimate destruction of the Key of Solomon.
