Biography
Piccolo Daimao (Japanese: ピッコロ大魔王, Hepburn: Pikkoro Daimaō, "The Great Demon King Piccolo") was a member of the Namekians who first came to Planet Earth around 300 years ago. During this time, he sought the position of guardian of the planet but was denied due to the presence of evil within him. As a guardian's motives had to be pure, the nameless Namekian went through intense training and concentration to purge the evil within him. This saw his essence divided into two separate beings one of which was King Piccolo who was his evil half whilst the other was Kami who represented the good in him. These two had a life link between them that meant if one were to perish then the other would die as well. Piccolo created several offspring and watched as they terrorized and killed helpless citizens and destroyed the cities, they lived in but stepped in himself later on, after his sons were killed by Master Mutaito's pupils, including a young Master Roshi and a young Master Shen who were the only two who survived. Master Roshi and Master Shen could not as much as lay a finger on Piccolo, and Mutaito soon steps in but is himself outclassed and left to die by Piccolo. Despite Piccolo's devastating attacks, Mutaito lived. After being nursed back to health by his two remaining pupils, but before he could heal his wounds, Mutaito left, in shame because he lost in front of his two students. While Master Roshi never lost faith in his master, Master Shen did, and the two parted ways, with Master Roshi escaping to the mountains while Piccolo continued to kill human after human and destroy city after city. Several years later, Mutaito seals King Piccolo in an Electric Rice Cooker with the help of Roshi and Shen. In the anime Mutaito and Roshi instead track Piccolo down for the final confrontation, which by this time the majority of Earth's population had been slaughtered. They find Piccolo in the ruins of a city, which is hauntingly quiet, and Mutaito wastes no time launching his attack on him, this special technique is revealed to be the suicidal Evil Containment Wave. Piccolo was trapped in the Electric Rice Cooker and Mutaito dies, and sometime afterward Master Roshi personally tosses the rice cooker into the deepest depths of the ocean.
Overview
Personality and attributes
Being the concentrated evil that lived within the Nameless Namekian, King Piccolo's personality is the exact opposite of his good counterpart, Kami; as he is presented as a cold, ruthless, sadistic, and power-hungry villain with little to no sense of compassion whatsoever. He has demonstrated on many occasions that he is willing to do anything to accomplish his goals, regardless of how many innocent lives need to be taken in the process. Piccolo has also been shown to have a very warped and twisted sense of humor, often breaking out into a maniacal laughter after causing some form of death and destruction and creating a holiday where he would destroy a city every year on the anniversary of his take-over. Despite his power-hungry nature, however, he has absolutely no interest in actually ruling over his subjects, at least after his release from the electric rice cooker by Pilaf. This was especially evident after he took over the world, where he outright admits that he has no interest in ruling over the planet despite his being the new king of the world and if anything encourages the subjects to commit as many crimes and cause as much chaos as they ever want while explicitly ending law and order.
He had said that for some reason he felt the incredible urge to destroy a martial artist every time he had met one. This was the case regardless of their power as he said he would destroy even those who were tiny and pathetic.
Among his offspring included:
- Piano (ピアノ) :
- Tambourine (タンバリン, Tanbarin) :
- Cymbal (シンバル, Shinbaru) :
- Drum (ドラム, Doramu) :
- Piccolo (ピッコロ, Pikkoro) :
Powers and abilities
Originally, it was thought that he was a demon but in reality he was a member of the green-skinned extraterrestrial species native to the planet Namek.
He was strong enough to thrust his arm through the man's chest thus killing them in the process.
It was shown that he was capable of controlling and manipulating people or objects with the mind through telekinesis which could be performed by lifting a finger.
By activating his body's cells, he was able to attain a giant form where he became faster and stronger but that this puts a strain on his body. In his Great Namekian (グレートナメック星人 Gurēto Namekku-seijin) state, he could achieve heights greater than those of other members of his kin.
Due to his creation by fission, he and Kami were tied together by a Life Link. This meant that if either died then the other one would die as well as they faded from existence.
Among the techniques known to him included:
- Finger Beam (フィンガービーム, Fingā Bīmu) :
- Scatter Finger Beam (連続気功波 Renzoku Kikōha, lit. "Continuing Spirit Cultivation Wave") :
- Eye Lasers (光線眼 Kōsengan) :
- Explosive Demon Wave (爆力魔波 Bakurikimaha, lit. "Demon's Bursting Power Wave") :
- Makosen (魔光閃 Makōsen, lit. "Demon's Light Ray") :
