Biography
Origin
Lady Styx
Her armies came to conquer a world on the frontier where Captain Comet attempted to protect it but fell in battle where he came to be dissected and killed. This incursion was detected by the Guardians of the Universe who deemed it a threat from beyond the gates of spacetime itself. The scale of the danger led to them pulling back their Green Lantern Corps who they deemed unable to combat such a menace. Despite that, Green Lantern Xax remained behind to fight the invaders where he held them off for 5 days until his Power Ring was nearly depleted. He then requested support but the Guardians could not risk their officers being infected by an extra-universal contaminant and thus denied his request with honors. They then remotely shut off his ring and the Green Lantern was killed by Lady Styx's followers where their Power Ring was consumed by her. (52 v1 #31)
Seeing the destruction wrought by her, a trio of heroes consisting of Adam Strange, Animal Man and Starfire came to fear the fate of their homeworlds. Thus, they decided to make a stand against her and begrudgingly were aided by former intergalactic bounty hunter Lobo. He suggested that their means of getting close to Lady Styx was under the pretense of him collecting on their bounty. Arriving in her throne room, Lady Styx though stated that their was no bounty and all she offered was death. She came to insult Lobo to the point that he broke his vow of pacifism leading to an open fight with these intruders. During the battle, she seemingly came to kill Animal Man by infecting him with her necrotoxin. The fight was interrupted though by the emerald head of Ekron who looked to end the threat of Lady Styx by plunging both himself and her into a Sun-Eater. (52 v1 #36) Despite her apparent demise, she was able to resurrect herself through the body of one of the pregnant captives held by her followers. (52 v1 #43)
Once again, she tries growing new flesh from the bodies of her followers. Using the stones as a focus, she recreates a new, giant body, combining and reshaping her supplicants' bodies. She is stopped in her plan by the Omega Men and finally killed by a resurrected and empowered "Felicity" (wife of the Omega Men's commander-in-chief Tigorr), now re-christened "Nimbus". However, Lady Styx was apparently able to hold her consciousness together within Felicity's subconscious. There, the Lady waited to strike again.
In "Countdown to Adventure," Styx was able to infect both Earth and Rann with her Stygian Virus creating a band of radicalistic followers. On Earth, there were many random outbursts of people acting homicidal and psychopathic, and on Rann the public united under a new hero with her guidance, an Earthman named Champ Hazard, who was much more destructive and violent than Adam Strange.
More recently, although the direct influence of Lady Styx was purged from the Rannians, they have continued to worship her as a deity, although not quite as devoutly. Her influence on Rannian culture plays a big role in the event "Rann-Thanagar: Holy War."
Post-Flashpoint
Following the Flashpoint, a new version of reality was created with a different history of events.
