Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask
The first hero by that name. Link travelled between two different time periods of Hyrule to defeat the evil Ganondorf in his bid to acquire the Triforce of Power. He was eventually victorious, helping the Seven Sages trap Ganondorf- now Ganon- in the Light World. Later, Link repeatedly tried to save Hyrule in a single day (using the Song of Time as he had against Ganon) from total destruction by the power of Majora's Mask.
A Link to the Past, Link's Awakening
Centuries later, another Link journeyed between the normal world and the Dark World to defeat the wizard Agahnim and his master, Ganon, rescuing the Princess Zelda. Along the way, he gained the mighty Master Sword and re-united the Triforces to restore the Dark World to its original pure state. Link later travelled to the dream island of Koholint.
The Legend of Zelda, Zelda 2
The last hero by that name. Link defeated Ganon at the ends of his power, re-forming the shattered Triforce of Wisdom and rescuing Princess Zelda. Later, he quested for the Triforce of Courage to free Zelda from an enchanted sleep, eventually defeating Shadow Link to do so.
