Biography

Mahito (Japanese: 真ま人ひと, Hepburn: Mahito?) was a male Cursed Spirit who came to be born in the modern age from negative human emotion. At some point, Mahito enacted a binding vow with Kokichi Muta whereby the Cursed Spirit would heal his charge. In return, Kokichi would act as mole within Jujutsu High and supply them with information. Mahito was first seen sitting under an umbrella on a beach chair within Dagon's Domain Expansion and reading a book when Pseudo-Geto first arrives. Mahito agreed with Geto, about sealing Satoru Gojo on a set date that he will contact them with.

One day, he decided to attend a cinema as he looked for his next victims. Later that day, Mahito came to meet Junpei Yoshino when he noticed the human could see him after having killed three people at the theater. He then headed into the sewer with Junpei where Mahito explained to Yoshino the nature of Cursed Spirits. Junpei asked what kind of spirit Mahito was to which he replied that he was a cursed spirit that was created from people fearing other people. Mahito and Junpei then talked with about human emotion whilst Mahito showed Junpei his human experiments. Later Mahito encounters Kento Nanami, and the two start to fight. After a little bit, Mahito starts to explain his abilities. The two continue to fight, Mahito notices that Nanami's power is increasing after it hits 6 o'clock. As Mahito prepares to continue fighting, Nanami escapes by burying Mahito in rubble. Mahito manages to escape from the rubble after sometime and meets with Geto. After Junpei's mother is killed, Mahito shows Junpei the cursed object that caused it and suggest that it was the classmate that was bullying Junpei that did it. Mahito then help Junpei prepare to attack his classmates. Mahito shows up during the fight between Yuji Itadori and Junpei. Mahito restrains Yuji, and uses his abilities to transforms Junpei. Mahito then laughs when Sukuna refuses to help Yuji. Mahito continues to laugh even after Junpei dies, at which point Yuji punches him. Mahito notices that there was something different about that punch and realizes that Yuji can naturally injure him. Mahito then takes on Yuji, and manages to force Yuji to the courtyard. Mahito manages to pin Yuji down and tries to force Yuji to switch with Sukuna, but Sukuna forced Mahito out of his territory and told him there would not be another chance. Mahito and Yuji continued to fight, until Nanami showed up and attacked Mahito. Mahito then took on both Yuji and Nanami where he managed to dodge most of their attacks. Mahito managed to distracts Yuji by sending some of his transfigured humans after him thus allowing the Cursed Spirit to restrain Nanami. Just as Mahito prepared to finish Nanami off, Yuji showed up and hit Mahito. Mahito was then repeatedly hit by both Yuji and Nanami. The desperate situation allowed Mahito to manifest the ability to achieve a Domain Expansion where he came to trap Nanami within it. Seemingly secure in victory, Mahito prepared to attack Nanami but Yuji Itadori managed to forcibly enters his territory. This indirectly led to a second meeting with Sukuna who was angered at the intrusion into his mind again. This led to Sukuna grievously wounding Mahito as a result as he cared little on who was the victory of their battle. Injured and his Domain shattered, Mahito used the last of his power to distract Yuji allowing himt o escape from the area. Mahito then recovered in the sewer. He expressed anger and amazement at how powerful Sukuna along with an intense desire to kill Yuji next.

Later on, Mahito and Geto meet up with Jogo where the former talked about their plans and how they will retrieve the fingers that are at the Tokyo College. Mahito later attends another meeting with the others about how they will invade the Tokyo College. During the Kyoto Goodwill Event, Mahito shows up at the site along with Hanami, Juzo Kumiya, and Haruta Shigemo. Mahito heads over to where Sukuna's fingers are at, while the others distract the sorcerers. Mahito manages to obtain the fingers, along with three of the Death Painting Wombs. Mahito then meets up with Hanami and Haruta, where he helps a wounded Hanami leave the site. Days later, Mahito feeds the Death Painting Wombs to humans, in order to give them bodies. Later Mahito is playing a board game along with Geto and Choso, when Choso reveals that his brothers are dead. Mahito is more concerned by the fact that Choso had destroyed a piece, but smile when he learns that Yuji and his classmate are the ones who are responsible.

Overview

Personality and attributes

In appearance, Mahito was a human-looking cursed spirit with a patchwork face and gray eyes where he had long grayish-blue hair that reached past his neck and is sectioned off into three large strands with ties at the ends.

He was shown as being a sadistic, immature cursed spirit who enjoyed toying with human emotions. He believed he was born from human transgressions and considers himself the very manifestation of humans' hatred of each other. As such, Mahito believes that humans should be extinguished and cursed spirits should rule in their place.

According to him, life had no weight or particular value where it simply flowed with this being the same for everyone. Thus, it was without meaning and without value which he deemed to the reason why anyone could do whatever they wanted. He reasoned that this allowed people to live the way they had wanted and that they should not limit themselves to just being different. Mahito found no reason to live under a restricting philosophy and concluded that people should live according to their desires. Thus, he believed that if one was hungry then they should eat and if one hated then they should kill the person the target of their hatred. In this regard, Mahito was said to support everything a person represented if they engaged in such a practice.

Mahito has no sympathy for human lives and appears to place little value on even his own life. He is devoted to his cause, believing that reviving Sukuna is more important than his own well being. As long as cursed spirits eventually reign supreme, Mahito cares not if he's there to see it. Unlike his ally Jogo, who is very short-tempered and arrogant, Mahito can remain relatively calm and is playful in nature. Even so, they agree on the same goals when it comes to their race.

Mahito is extremely adept at interacting with and manipulating human beings. He preys on their hatred, sorrow, and insecurities in order to direct them to act the way he wishes, even to the point where they act against their common sense. After indirectly causing the death of Junpei's mother, he convinces Junpei that the one who placed Sukuna's finger in his house that attracted the curse was Shota Ito and drove Junpei to become a curse user as revenge. Mahito manipulated Junpei so completely that Junpei never considered the fact that Mahito was evil until he actually tried to defend him to Yuuji, even after seeing his experiments in the sewer.

Nanami describes Mahito as extremely immature and has a superficiality about him similar to Satoru Gojo. He enjoys toying with humans, even in battle when his life is on the line. Mahito befriended Junpei because he saw him as a toy that could be fun to play with. He coerced Junpei into becoming a curse user by feeding on his hatred. When his toy ran out of use, Mahito used him as leverage against Yuji and had even killed him without a second thought.

Powers and abilities

As a Cursed Spirit, he was a supernatural being born from negative emotions that flowed from humans. Only those capable of seeing cursed energy were capable of seeing him. As a Special Grade, he possessed vast amounts of cursed energy at his disposal. Mahito possessed very high intellectual prowess, especially for a cursed spirit. He was accurately able to deduce that jujutsu sorcerers were investigating him and was able to set a trap for his pursuers. Mahito can also surmise his opponent's skill level and even their cursed technique after just a few exchanges. He is also very adept at using a variety of tricks to fool his opponents. Mahito can also surmise his opponent's skill level and even their cursed technique after just a few exchanges. He was able to accurately do so against Nanami and he was able to realize that Yuji had the ability to see souls thanks to his relationship with Sukuna. Mahito was also shown to be highly durable and exceptionally difficult to kill. Not only does his cursed technique render physical attacks meaningless, but even Mahito's soul is extremely resistant to damage. Nanami attempted to crush Mahito's body, but he went through their entire battle without expressing that he felt any pain even when attacks did land. When Yuji was able to hit Mahito's soul and both jujutsu sorcerers overwhelmed Mahito, he was able to weather the storm and unlocked a new power instead of allowing his body to crumble under the pressure

An unregistered Special Grade cursed spirit, it was said that his power eclipsed that of at least three of Sukuna's fingers. Due to being a young curse, he was shown as being less experienced and not as powerful as his compatriots. Despite this, Mahito was far above what a Special Grade cursed spirit would normally be and had demonstrated rapid growth over the course of only two months. He has very high intelligence and an extremely dangerous cursed technique. Mahito has incredible development potential, as on multiple instances he has developed in the middle of battle. Mahito is exceptionally difficult to kill. Not only does his cursed technique render physical attacks meaningless, but even Mahito's soul was extremely resistant to damage.

Among the techniques known to him included:

  • Black Flash (黒こく閃せん Kokusen?) : a technique that creates spatial distortion when a user connects with an impact of cursed energy within a span of 0.000001 seconds of a physical hit. The phenomenon causes cursed energy to flash black, creating an attack that is equal to a normal hit to the power of 2.5. Mahito learned how to use Black Flash during the Shibuya Incident. He has performed it twice.
  • Idle Transfiguration (無む為い転てん変ぺん Mui Tenpen?) : Mahito's cursed technique granted him the ability to reshape souls. Doing so allowed him to disfigure the body of his victims, heal his own wounds, transform his appendages into weapons, and a limitless variety of other possible transformations. Mahito could even create a clone that may use Idle Transfiguration on himself, but not on others.
  • Soul Multiplicity (多た重じゅう魂こん Tajūkon?) :
  • Body Repel (撥ばっ体たい Battai?) :
  • Polymorphic Soul Isomer (幾き魂こん異い性せい体たい Kikon Iseitai?) :
  • Instant Spirit Body of Distorted Killing (遍へん殺せつ即そく霊れい体たい Hensetsu Soku Reitai?) :
  • Curtain (帳とばり Tobari?) :

At first, he was unable to achieve a Domain Expansion but after nearly defeated and facing death he came to reach the state where he could perform the technique. Mahito's Domain Expansion was referred to as the Self-Embodiment of Perfection (自閉円頓裹 Jihei Endonka?) that was an expanse consisting of endless hands that were joined together.
