Matt Murdock is a male comic character who features in Marvel Comics.

Biography

Matthew Michael Murdock was a male human who came to be born on Earth-65 in the Multiverse. The son of boxer Jonathan Murdock and Maggie Murdock where he was raised by his parents together. This was until one day he accompanied his mother when they suffered an accident involving an Oscorp truck leading to Maggie Murdock being covered by chemicals. The incident also resulted in the young Matt Murdock being rendered blind but his remaining senses were enhanced to superhuman levels. Jack Murdock in an effort to support his family as he became buried in debt when he came to find that his boxing matches were being rigged by the crime boss Silvermane. At first, Murdock agreed to lose the final match in exchange for a payoff but instead knocked out his opponent out of pride and frustration thus costing Silvermane a fortune. In response, the crime boss's men attacked both Jack and Matt as part of Silvermane's revenge scheme. Jack Murdock was fatally wounded but the young Matthew was saved by the timely intervention of Stick. He came to recognise potential in the young Murdock and decided to take the boy under his wing to prepare him for a war with the fighting against New York's crime syndicates. Following a period of training, they attacked Silvermane's operations and had the advantage until he called his allies that were ninjas of the Hand. Stick was ultimately killed by the Hand warrior Kirigi with Matt Murdock being captured. The Hand came to be impressed at the skill of the boy and decided to take him into their ranks. Matt Murdock by this point had been mentally broken allowing him to easily be moulded as a warrior of the Hand. (Spider-Gwen v2 #28)

Personality and attributes

When out in the field, he sometimes hid his identity by wearing a red horned demon mask. (Spider-Gwen v2 #15) He came to gain a number of epithets that included the Western Sun of the Hand and eventually the Kingpin of Crime. (Spider-Gwen v2 #15)

He knew Cindy Moon of his Earth where the two had a flirtatious relationship but represented rival organizations. (Spider-Gwen v2 #15)

One of his servants was a Hand ninja named Otomo who was the First Blade of the Kingpin and a Servant of the Hand. (Spider-Gwen v2 #15)

Powers and abilities

Originally, Matt Murdock was an ordinary human being until he was exposed to chemicals from an Oscorp truck. This caused him to go blind but resulted in his remaining senses to be enhanced to superhuman levels. (Spider-Gwen v2 #28)

From a young age, he came to be trained in martial arts and in the way of the ninja at first by his mentor Stick. This was until he was killed whereupon Murdock was taken in by the Hand. (Spider-Gwen v2 #28)
