Matthews (The Guns of Navarone)

Matthews was a British Army soldier who served under Captain Briggs in Castelrosso during World War II. He was with Briggs when he greeted Lieutenant Andrew Stevens and Captain Keith Mallory's group at the dock, and assigned to assist the group while they were in Castelrosso. When When Nicolai was caught listening outside their room, Matthews was sent to get Briggs. Matthews thereafter was instructed by Briggs to take Nicolai away and lock up for security reasons, although despite this, Briggs released Nicolai later due to his disgust with the commandos' behavior.
