History

Origin

The Miracle Machine was created by the Controllers and gifted to the Legion after they defeated a rogue member of their kind. It was, however, decided that the machine was too dangerous for use and was locked away.

In 2960, the Controllers had managed to refine the will-powered technology of the Guardians of the Universe and used it to create the Final Machine which in their language was called Geh-Jedollah-The-Absolute. (Final Crisis v1 #6)

A Controller would appear before Superboy and the Legion of Super-Heroes warning them of the dangers of the Miracle Machine and the potential of it creating a universal level cataclysm. He would not take the device as he left it in the Legion's care whereupon they along with Superboy decided to encase it within a block of Inertron until mankind was more capable of using it. The Legion decided that only the greatest of cosmic emergencies would make them activate the machine again. (Adventure Comics v1 #367)

Post-Flashpoint

Following the Flashpoint, a new version of reality was created with a different history of events. The device was said to had been a weapon forged by the Monitors who called it the Geh-Jedollah that was built during God War One. In time, the Controllers came to acquire the means of building the device and came to refer to it as the Miracle Machine. (The Green Lantern v1 #12)

Overview

It was originally known as the Geh-Dedollah with it also being referred to as the Genesis Box and as the Absolute. (The Green Lantern v1 #12) Despite its name, there was no actual translation of the Controller word for the device with it instead being called the Miracle Machine. It was considered the ultimate technological artifact due to being a machine that turned thoughts into reality. (Final Crisis v1 #6) Such was its power that it could not be left in the hands of an undisciplined mind who could create unintentional disasters with it. A simple thoughtless thought of dying could lead to a person vanishing from existence or a rash idea and momentary whim could destroy the entire continuum. (Adventure Comics v1 #367)
