Biography

Owen Reece

According to one account, he was born a small, frail and timid child who was ever clinging to his mother. (Secret Wars II v1 #6)

After his mothers death, he was said to had grown into a weak and wretched adult who was bitter and lonely where he felt nothing but fear and hatred. (Secret Wars II v1 #6)

In reality, all these events had been engineered by the multiversal beings known as the Beyonders who looked to construct a bomb whose destruction would destroy its universe. (New Avengers v3 #33)

Journeying into the place of his creation, Reece came to explain his true origins to Doctor Doom. He explained to Victor that the Beyonders had now gotten tired of their observation of life and looked to end their great experiment. Thus, their intention was to detonate every version of the Molecule Man in the entire Multiverse which would bring existence to an end. Owen then charged Doctor Doom with going to each reality to slay its Molecule Man thus preventing the detonation and gaining their power as a result in order to thwart the plans of the Beyonders. (New Avengers v3 #33)

As he accompanied the Future Foundation, he used his abilities in conjunction with Franklin Richards to create new universes and realities. Together, they had created a large number of universes and their respective inhabitants until Franklin's powers was tapped to their limit. It was then that they were attacked by the Griever who sought to purge these new realities where she and her minions consumed the Molecule Man who was seemingly killed as a result. (Fantastic Four v6 #2) After the Grievers defeat, the Future Foundation believed that one molecule of him still existed and they decided to seek it out in order to restore Owen Reece back to life. Thus, they departed the company of the Fantastic Four as they went on their own quest to restore the Molecule Man. (Fantastic Four v6 #4)
