Biography

Nathaniel Cain was born in the 21st century following the discovery of a mysterious artifact by the scientist Dr. Joan Aiken who had uncovered the relic in the Middle East. This curious artifact had the power to allow normal human beings to gain the full functionality of their brains and thus gave them amazing psionic powers. However, amongst adult specimens, this empowerment simply drove the subjects insane and they became dangerous with these enhanced abilities. Despite this problem, Dr Aiken uncovered that the introduction of special Psionic Booster Serums (PSB)s to subjects whilst they were within their mothers womb allowed them to fully accept their new abilities without suffering from insanity. To prove her work, she inserted the serum in utero within two unborn offspring one of which was Nathaniel Cain and the other being his "brother" Abel. As the world changed, a special government organization known as the Department for National Psionic Control was formed in order to police the matter. This agency was established as a number of the newly formed psychics used their abilities and powers for criminal as well as destructive purposes. Thus, the DNPC was formed in order to apprehend such rogues as well as prevent the destruction that they might cause. Naturally, both Cain and Abel were chosen to be the first agents for the organization who were soon deployed onto the field to prevent these psychics from going out of control.

Growing to adulthood, Cain developed a skill in the pyrotechnic arts and proved to be an exceptional agent for the organization. He was later tasked with hunting down Priscilla Divine; a psychic who had formed a group called the Eye of Ra who opposed the Children of Tomorrow project. During the confrontation, Ms Divine used a group of civilians as shields against Cain who unleashed his power into the crowd. In a fit of psionic rage, he sat a mall on fire and Priscilla Divine later managed to escape. His actions were not looked kindly upon by the government and the DNPC put him on probation as well as implanted an aggression control chip within his brain. This device activated if Cain ever used his powers against civilians or caused needless harm. Following this moment, he was once again put into the field in order to apprehend rogue psychics. His investigation later led him to uncovering a Psychic Link that served as a front for the Eye of Ra whereupon Cain was sent into the field to combat Divine once more. Whilst battling her, she urged him to join her revolution against Dr Aiken though Nathaniel Cain refused and instead said that he would take Divine back to DNPC custody. He was ultimately forced to kill her but Divine's final words were that Golgothon would destroy them all. Following the completion of the mission, he was extracted from his location by helicopter in order to return to DNPC headquarters,

Cain quickly returned to DNPC headquarters where he was debriefed on the matter. Following that, he was assigned to go to the Psionic Training Chamber in order to test his new psychic talents. During his simulation, an attack was made against the DNPC headquarter facility leading to the testing chamber going out of control but Cain managed to destroy the machine before it could harm him. He later moved in to stop a prison break when an unknown attacker assaulted alone against the detention wing releasing imprisoned psionics. During the incident, he was assigned to protect a young boy called Bobby whereupon he learnt that it was his "brother" Abel who had attacked the facility in order to steal the childs talent.
