Non was one of General Zod's two followers on Krypton. A gigantic, musclebound man, Non was described by Jor-El as a "mindless abberation, whose only means of expression are wanton violence and cruelty." Non assisted Zod in his attempt to overthrow the government. He was imprisoned within the Phantom Zone by Jor-El, alongside Zod and Ursa. Following their accidental release almost thirty years later at Earth, Non, like his associates, was granted the exact same powers as Superman, and joined Zod in his attempt to get revenge on the son of their jailor. He was presumably killed at the Fortress of Solitude following the removal of his powers, when he tried to fly and instead fell into a deep crevice.
Non's fate is left ambiguous at the end of Superman II. However in a deleted scene, it is revealed that the three defeated villains are handed over to the police by Superman, along with Lex Luthor. In Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut, Superman destroys the Fortress of Solitude (thus making the entire movie non-canon with the following films), presumably killing Non, Zod, and Ursa within, provided that they survived their falls, but then at the end of the film he turns back time (similar to the ending of Superman the Movie), returning all three villains to their imprisonment within the Phantom Zone.
