Biography

Noriaki Kakyoin (Japanese: 花京院 典明, Hepburn: Kakyōin Noriaki) was a young red haired Japanese male who was born in the 20th century. After his birth, he developed the mystical ability of the Stand with his becoming known as Hierophant Green. However, no one was able to see the Stand except for himself with this leading to him having difficulty in making friends. A reason for this was because he felt that no one could ever understand him as they could not meet his Stand. His teachers informed his mother that Kakyoin was not disliked but that he was unapproachable with no one wanting to make friends with him. Such was the case with his mother as she herself whilst saddened felt that she did not know where her own son was so withdrawn. Noriaki in the meantime felt isolated and never knew the sense of family or friendship that he saw in others making him feel alone. Around 1989, Kakyoin travelled to Egypt along with his family where he encountered the mysterious DIO who sensed the Stand power within him. DIO asked for a demonstration of his powers with Noriaki unleashing his Stand leading to a fight which he lost. In the aftermath, DIO brainwashed Kakyoin by implanting his flesh bud cells within him making him a servant as he saw him and other Stand users as useful additions to his followers. By this point, a threat to DIO emerged in the form of the Joestar family which Brando intended to destroy. Thus, Kakyoin was dispatched back to Japan in order to deal with Jotaro Kujo who attended the same school as him. Jotaro soon discovered that Kakyoin was under the influence of Dio leading to a confrontation between the pair with Kakyoin using his Stand to take a hostage. Jotaro then used his own Stand, Star Platinum, to remove Dio's implantdc buds from Kakyoin's head in spite of the risk that it may openly attack both of them. As a result, Kakyoin was freed from Dio's slavery afterwards and he joined the heroes as thanks for helping him.

During the confrontation with DIO, Kakyoin and the Joestars group quickly escaped his mansion as they did not know the true nature of his Stand's power. They went deep into Cairo where Kakyoin and Joseph Joestar attempted to evade the pursuing DIO. Despite their attempts, DIO managed to quickly gain on them leading to the potential of their eventual confrontation with him. It was then that Kakyoin decided to force a confrontation and risk his life in order to get DIO to expose his Stand's power. With Hierophant Green's power, he created an elaborate trap for DIO where he launched numerous attacks from various directions thinking that he would be forced to reveal The World's power. Unknown to him, DIO's Stand was stopping time which he used to inflict a mortal wound on Kakyoin's mid-section and sending him into the water tower. Joseph Joestar was thus left to face the vampiric DIO alone and unaware of The World's power. Whilst bleeding out, Kakyoin figured out the nature of the Stand's ability but was unable to directly convey this knowledge to Joseph. As Joseph faced DIO, Kakyoin used the last of his energy to have his Stand's Emerald Splash power to strike a nearby clock tower in the hope that Joseph would get the clue. He shortly died afterwards but his sacrifice led to Joseph Joestar determining the true power of The World which he passed to his grandson Jotaro Kujo in his fight with DIO.

Overview

Personality and attributes

In appearance, Noriaki Kakyoin was a male human who was recognizable for his green and tight student outfit, green eyes, two cherry-shaped earrings and pinkish red hair with a unique side hair. He was later shown to wear sunglasses with this being direct result of his eye injury from N'Dour's attack.

Kakyoin is said to be cold-looking from the outside, but his inner personality is completely different; he's a warm and loyal fighter. He will support his comrades actively, and he fights for things that are ethically right.

After the battle with Jotaro, he realizes his mistake of being used as Dio's pawn and to make up for that, he joins Jotaro in his quest to destroy Dio, even at the expense of his own life.

Some of his personality undergoes changes in the middle of the story, and this is attributed to the events after his encounters with Mannish Boy and N'Dour. He eventually sheds this "repentant" attitude. In addition to the above traits, he now has more confidence and has regained a lot of his pride.

He also has profound respect for his parents, remembering them right before his eventual death.

Powers and abilities

Noriaki Kakyoin was a human who was born a Stand User (スタンド使い Sutando Tsukai) allowing him to manifest his life energy as a Stand (スタンド Sutando). In his case, this took the form of a green-humanoid called Hierophant Green (ハイエロファントグリーン(法皇の緑) Haierofanto Gurīn) that had a robotic form with yellow eyes, no distinguishable mouth, and green-colored appendages that resembles a watermelon in texture where it was a remote Stand with elastic properties. He was able to deploy it from far away and perform actions from a distance making it perfect or combat and scouting. The Stand was relatively weak in direct hand-to-hand combat though it traded this power for its distance-based abilities. Despite its humanoid appearance, it was actually connected by a series of membranes that compacted into winding coils of itself that could unravel itself at a moment's notice into numerous long strings for multiple purposes. With it, Kakyoin could create strong ropes or he could unravel it into invisible strings. Theoretically, Hierophant Green could extend its body parts and tentacles over long distances. A single string was able to sense when someone was touching it and could automatically attack the thing that disturbed it or do so only at Noriaki's command. Typically, any damage done to the Stand was felt by the user as well though if a single string was broken then Kakyoin was unharmed. However, damaging a sufficient number of them could result in an injury on Kakyoin's own boy. A more sinister use of his power was being able to extend Hierophant Green as coils into another person's body. Once inside, he was able to completely control them and move them like a marionette where the Stand itself was safe from harm as the host body it resided in suffered any injuries to it. Kakyoin could command his Stand to depart a body where he could have it destroy the air passages and internal organs of a person in the process.

One of his Stand's most powerful abilities was Emerald Splash (エメラルドスプラッシュ Emerarudo Supurasshu) whereby it gathered energy into its body causing it to glow bright green before firing off a large amount of energy which takes the form of emeralds. These he was able to shoot rapidly in multiple succession like bullets where the speed and velocity the emeralds travel at was enough to crush objects like concrete and flesh. These emeralds were usually fired in a wide spread but could be focused for more damage.

Hierophant Green is also very sensitive to movement and can react very quickly. Its appendages can also deliver an electrical shock in some cases. However, his Stand is relatively weak in direct hand-to-hand combat, as a tradeoff of its great distance-based abilities.
